Oct. 11, 2019 shortstop33 37 posts | stats Home team ahead in bottom of 6th get three hits score two runs should these count in final score. Score in rec league where they keep stats need help. I say they should count some say no. They do count in MLB |
Oct. 12, 2019 shortstop33 37 posts | Does anyone out there no the answer to this question. In the MLB the hitters get credit for the hits, and the runs count. |
Oct. 12, 2019 mck71 Men's 60 344 posts | ss33 - if the game is still in question, which would make sense since they are batting in the bottom of the 6th and we usually play 7 inning games, then simple answer is yes. I have honestly never heard of a place where they wouldn't! Hope that helps |
Oct. 12, 2019 DaveDowell Men's 70 4312 posts | Sounds like your league may be an "X number of minutes, game over" structure ... In SSUSA we have the "open inning" concept, so with us the runs would count in any inning NOT that open inning ... The closest related issue we have is in seeding games where runs allowed are a seeding criteria tie-breaker ... In the bottom of the open, tied game and bases loaded as an example: If the batter hits a walk-off grand slam, we hear the argument that only the winning run should count ... We count them all, just like MLB ... Thanks for writing ... |
Oct. 12, 2019 shortstop33 37 posts | the rain came in the bottom of the 6th, we play 7 and the home team was up 5-2, they scored 2 runs, which came on a homerun with one on, making the score 7-2 then the sky opened up and the game was called. My question is should the homerun count, I say yes everyone else is saying no, game should go back to the last complete inning. I know in the MLB the player get credit for their stats in that inning. I can't find anything in senior softball that references this. Thanks for the input mck71 and Dave. |
Oct. 12, 2019 DaveDowell Men's 70 4312 posts | New facts (or additional ones) change my answer... In a shortened "official game", with the home team ahead after four and a half innings, or after five regardless of the score, the game reverts back to the last completed inning ... Stats in a disregarded partial inning are also disregarded, except by the guy who had them when the team is at the bar enjoying a post-game adult beverage! ... |
