Legal roster?
4 guys that played 55 major last year. 3 guys that played 50 major but will turn 55 by next year. Assume they'll be classed 55 major. 3 guys that are 50 major. 2 guys that have never played senior ball and are just turning 50. And 1 guy that played 50 AAA last year. Question, is this a legal 50 AAA roster? If not, why and how can we fix it to have the most of us play together? Not trying to whine about ratings or sandbag. Just want to play with friends.

Why not play 50 major with these friends? Why do 10 major players want to play on a AAA team?

Are the 3 that are turning 55 going to be playing on a 55 major team? I think that they may still be carrying their 50 major status when playing 50 since that is what they last played at. Maybe after two years of exclusively playing 55 major they would be eligible to play on a 50 AAA team without counting against the number of major players allowed IF they hadn't been playing 50 major in those 2 years.

Agree with Murray, NOT a legal 50AAA roster. The 55M players CAN play at 50AAA but the 3 that were 50M this past year even though they move up will still be considered 50M players for 2 years as long as they still play 50 unless they appeal and it's granted (usually a medical reason that is expected to be much more stringent).

And also agree why not just play 50M (6 of you guys are already rated 50M)? Worst case is you play at least 3 tourneys and if you are not competitive you can appeal to get lowered but you should at least try it. JMHO

EBAT50 ... Here's the best advice I can provide, because nobody who posts here (present typist INCLUDED) will be able to give you a definitive answer ... Put together the names, ideally with player ID card numbers, of the guys you are considering and ask for a "pre-season roster" best guess by the SSUSA eligibility folks of what that mix would yield as an age/rating combination ...

You can send it to info@seniorsoftball.com and put "Attention: Tiffany" in the subject line ... There are way too many variables to take a SWAG (scientific wild ass guess) at it here ... There will be questions like how many years recent experience does each guy have, at what age/rating, how old is the player, has he been playing younger than his calendar age or playing both at AND below age? ... All of these factors will be relevant ... Good luck! ...

Thx for the advice. I didn't realize that a player had to play 2 yrs at a level to be considered at the new level. Apparently along with other factors. To answer Murray's question, most of the guys were together a few years ago on a below average 50 major team. The 55+ guys were clearly overmatched. Most of them are closing in on 60 actually. That was the reason for our split originally. Plus the 3 new guys are clearly AAA talents. Just thought we could all, legally play together at the AAA level, at least be competitive while not dominating and not get anyone killed.
Thx again and I'll look into our options.
