You have apparently eliminated the anonymous nature, but the other three reasons remain valid. Post responsibly and we provide a lot of latitude. For those who don't, not so much so. There are lots of bats out there to choose from so it is not like they are a monopoly and the only vendor you can buy from. As someone who cracked about 10 bats this year, I would be willing to pay more for a bat with a warranty. It would be like getting a two for one deal. |

The price is higher because the first batch of bats for Vegas were air freighted over here and the new China Tariff cost all of us more. |

I think the Suncoast swings a little lighter than the 2019 model. Might be because of the thiner handle. Nothing but love on this string Dave. |

I assume it is made for Adidas somewhere in China and Suncoast gave them some particular specifications to meet, like the tacified barrel and the thinner handle. Otherwise, I assume it is very like the 2019 Adidas Melee. I was unable to get any real confirmation of this by searching the internet. Dave Velazquez website indicates he thinks highly of the 3 models. |

Adidas got out of the bat business and Sun Coast took over production using the same manufacturer as Adidas but made changes such that the 2019 Adidas red melee now has a thinner handle and also has a tackified barrel. The barrel section is the same as the 2019 Adidas. The list price is now $249. I don't know what, if any, discount is available for the bat. |

| Nov. 10, 2019 mck71 Men's 60 344 posts | JAB - I read and reread this thread, didn't see where anyone said that the sweet spots for 12 and 13 in bats were BOTH 6 inches? Usually not the case, I know it's not the same for the 2018 Melee's (I have both 12 and 13 in) so assume that is probably not true but I have been wrong before! (and of course doesn't mean it isn't a good bat, can't wait to swing them! :-) |

I’m 73 but only playing senior softball the past four yrs and trying to educate myself on the 1.21 bats. I currently swing the 2019 red melee 12 in. I have two, one is great, the other not so great. I recently held the suncoast EL and liked the feel especially the thinner handle but not sure of differences between the 12 in vs 13 in. Your thoughts? |
| Nov. 13, 2019 mck71 Men's 60 344 posts | JAB - personally (and there are better/smarter people than I on this board to explain it), the 12", while having a smaller sweet spot, goes through the zone a little quicker once you get it going (more mass at the end of the barrel) and therefore when you hit the sweet spot, ball will travel a little farther (at least for me it does). The issue I have is that I am not consistent with hitting that sweet spot so I carry both in my bag depending on how lousy I am swinging that day! LOL I will add that I usually practice with a 12" to work on being more consistent, have only started hitting these recently (past year). The way I figure it if I can hit the 12" in bp then even if I switch to my 13" I should be ok (and better chance to hit the bigger sweet spot), might be just out in front a little. At least that is what I tell myself! :-) Hope this helps. |
| Nov. 14, 2019 Saratoga2 19 posts | When I compare my 2019 red Melee (end load) to my older one piece 12 inch Melee (orange lettering) I note a slight difference in barrel length, with the red Melee a little longer. The barrel lenght is more likely to determine the length of sweet spot as long as the manufacture is done in the same way. The loading on the other hand is likely to determine how far the bat will hit, assuming the same bat speed through the zone. That is the question for most seniors. Can you swing the higher moment of inertia bat as fast? The answer is in the rresults. |
