| Feb. 3, 2020 DLH-SanDiego 1 posts | Clear plastic facemasks I pitch in various senior leagues and at age 67 my reflexes are slowing down a bit. I dislike traditional masks with the metal bars as they impair my vision. Does anyone know of a safe, quality mask with a clear plastic cover? | Feb. 5, 2020 hitman Men's 70 339 posts | Don't use the plastic ones, they aren't safe and according to some ratings they will maybe stop a 70mph ball, while most balls you would be concerned about will be traveling about 100+. Simple physics says that is more than twice the energy of the 70MPH. Get a good helmet because the 1st reaction is to turn the head away leaving the temple exposed!!!! |

| Feb. 6, 2020 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | i used a ripit or champro adult fielding mask along with the base coaches/catchers helmet.....wear the helmet like catchers do(protects top and side)with the mask.....the metal masks have much greater view than any of the others to me.... |
| Feb. 7, 2020 Fleck14 Men's 55 7 posts | Take a look at the Worth Legit Softball helmet/mask, it provides good visibility and is light weight with adjustable fit. I used it for a couple years then went to the Cascade CPV-R Lacrosse helmet for better protection when we bumped up to Majors. You can cut out the middle cross-bar on the mask for better visibility. This is similar to what the USSSA Majors players wear.
