May 2, 2020 NYGNYY 211 posts | Any Chance for California Tournaments California continues to make the COVID19 news on a daily basis. Does anyone really believe there are going to be SSUSA tournaments in CA? Sacramento or Hemet? 65+. If you do then you’re living a pipe dream. With or without our new SSUSA rules it’s not going to happen. This has turned into a political nightmare and we’re caught in the middle of it. |
May 3, 2020 The real deal Men's 70 112 posts | NYGNYY - it's not looking real good right now. Yesterday the City of Pleasanton cancelled all league play for the rest of 2020, and will start up again in 2021. Don't know if this will affect any NCSSA tournaments that are played there. Speaking of NCSSA, anybody know if the Sacramento Tournament (on May 16 - 17) has been cancelled? The NCSSA Board of Directors previously stated that any / all tournaments would be considered cancelled if there wasn't a 2 week notice sent out before the tournament dates. So far - no notice... |

May 3, 2020 AJC Men's 60 215 posts | It does not look good for the Sacramento tournament to happen. They ( NCSSA ) cancelled today the Manteca tournament that was also supposed to happen on the same weekend. We were going to play in the Pleasanton 1 day tourney which was next Saturday the 9th and it was cancelled 13 days in advance. That is the same thing that happened to the Manteca tourney and Im sure they will announce by tomorrow that the Sac tournament is cancelled as well. At this time I think the ball could be viewed as the issue. Its the one piece of equipment that will be touched by several people, even on 1 play. We need for restrictions to be lifted further before Citys and Parks allow us to take the field again. |
May 6, 2020 Phoenix26 21 posts | AJC I’m not sure Pleasanton is going to have tournaments at all in 2020 They had already canceled the spring leagues and I received an email a few days ago that they’ve decided to just go ahead and cancel the summer/fall leagues as well. I’ve not seen/heard any official word as far as tourneys go. NCSSA probably has about half a dozen events there a year. All-World and GSL also have a couple there too. First time since 1981 I won’t be playing league of any kind. |
May 7, 2020 AJC Men's 60 215 posts | Phoenix, you are correct. That is a strong possibility that we will not be playing there this year. There is 3 more tournaments that we have on our schedule to play there and 1 of those is June 6 , 7. The same weekend that Reno just got rescheduled on. We plan on playing in Reno even tho all the uncertainties. The Pleasanton complex is one of our favorite places to play, it sure will be missed if we cant play there this year. Good places to eat next door, fields are usually in pretty good shape and one of the restaurants even has Pliny on tap ! Lets hope for the best, be safe ! |

May 7, 2020 AJC Men's 60 215 posts | Hi Nancy, I Hope all is well ! Thank you for the well wishes. We cant wait to get back out and play when it is deemed safe to do so. |
May 8, 2020 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1434 posts | AJC, our 20 year tournament here was cancelled early on. Saturday was warm and sunny with zero rain...of course. It was the first time that the temperature was 80 since October 3. There is speculation that softball will begin again in June. I really miss it and my softball framily. I wish you and your team the best. It will feel good to take it out on the ball for sure. Take good care of yourself, and have good safe fun. |
