May 28, 2020 TD. Tom 74 posts | ISA world Series Can I get some input on the ISA worlds series...I thought this would be a good alternative to the western championship if it did not go...is it just like SSUSA? We are a 50AAA team and want to make sure there are enough teams that play in this before we make a commitment one way are the other Thanks |
May 28, 2020 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | TD. Tom, ISA is the sister organization of SSUSA, and SSUSA rules are used. If you look under Tournaments on this site, you can see some of the details. We used to play in it and have officiated it for several years. They added a new complex to the schedule this year as the tournament was growing. I think that it is a very good event, one of the best in the Midwest. I am from the area and can answer any questions that you might have on it. |
May 28, 2020 TD. Tom 74 posts | Thanks Nancy, I went and looked at it. Is this the only isa tournament for seniors? Seems a little silly to pay 25.00 extra for one tournament and it's part of ssusa..but we would. Say mangers meeting but probably not? What airport do you fly into..Is the state open now to play? Thanks |
May 28, 2020 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | ISA has put on some smaller senior tournaments in the past and has been looking to expand those, but of course this was not the year for that. I would fly into Indianapolis, but Louisville is also an option. It has been historically in Columbus, but they added Shelbyville this year. Both are very nice complexes. SSUSA has done the scheduling in the past and of course would need to have a better idea of numbers before they can do that to know what divisions will be at each park. Shelbyville would be closer to Indy. I had talked with the ISA director, and he said that most teams stay in Edinburgh which is not a very long drive from either complex. They have always had the manager meeting the night before. |
May 28, 2020 TD. Tom 74 posts | Ok thanks Nancy for the info...Do you know if the state is open for softball yet? |
May 28, 2020 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Neither park is in Marion county (Indy) which has tighter restrictions than the rest of the state. The private parks there are opening after June 15 by the opening plan. I did get a chuckle on the way home because of you. Should I have told you that you could land the team plane at the Columbus airport? Every team has one, right? Just let me know what other questions that you may have. I know that we may have lost a few players to the casino and track near Shelbyville. |

May 28, 2020 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Yes, titanhd, the dust bowl is gone from the schedule. If you've never been to Shelbyville, it is very nice. |
May 28, 2020 titanhd Men's 60 638 posts | Yes Nancy Nice park but not a shade tree on the property! lol!! |
May 29, 2020 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | titanhd, true and like Columbus, it is mostly concrete. There are some trees behind the diamond by the fairgrounds. I have yet to see a senior go to the splash park. Both parks are still better than Dunn. It got hit by a tornado last year, and no one noticed. That is pretty telling. One of the light poles was snapped in two, and the shade trees were blown away. |
