July 3, 2020 Funwiththesuns 37 posts | Renewal of ID cards. Simply question, since a lot of teams may not play this season because of the virus and the stay at home orders in some of the states, do we have to pay for a new card in 20201 since we didn't use it in 2020. Just asking a question. How do other feel about this? |
July 3, 2020 TimMcElroy 942 posts | That is a valid question, but let's sit back a minute and let SSUSA fight fires in priority order. They are focused on giving as many people as possible the opportunity to play right now. IMO, developing policy for those that either could not, or did not play in 2020 should occur after the season concludes. |
July 3, 2020 DaveDowell Men's 70 4296 posts | Tim ... I think it's a good idea to defer any decision on that for now, but I do you know if I renew the license plate on my car and then don't drive it for a year, it's unlikely the DMV will let me roll that one over to the next year ... But I guess we can look at it ... Thanks! ... |
July 3, 2020 1bounce Men's 55 35 posts | Dave..if I choose not to drive my car for the year that is my decision. It could still be driven. If you pay yet there are no tournaments to play in is a different situation |
July 3, 2020 BOB4 3 posts | Remember folks that SSUSAA is a business that supports a number of employees not a non profit or free service for your softball fun. Worry more that without the ability to run tournaments, they and their staff will survive this pandemic. Try looking at the whole picture Funwiththesuns |
July 3, 2020 DaveDowell Men's 70 4296 posts | 1bounce ... There ARE tournaments being offered and run, which makes the issue you raise somewhat factually flawed ... It's not the actual absence of events, but rather your dissatisfaction with the quantity of same, and that's simply a debatable subjective discussion ... Again, when/if we look at it, October after the Season ends is a probable timeline ... There are more than enough higher-priority items captivating our attention currently! ... |
July 3, 2020 AZBillyD Men's 60 35 posts | Hey Dave. I didn't hit very well in a couple tournaments this year. Could I get a prorated discount on my fees for those tournaments? |
July 3, 2020 Omar Khayyam 1357 posts | Jeb financed a brand new 4-wheel drive SUV on a monthly payment plan and was looking forward to driving it at his mountain cabin on the winding roads in that area. The snows were heavy that winter, so he didn't get an opportunity to go to the cabin and take it out of the garage. Then, before he had it ready to go, a spring flood inundated the area and all of the roads were damaged to some degree and impassible. The county worked hard to repair the roads, but it was slow work and a week of rain not only halted the road repair, but flooded the area again so the county had to start over! It was fall before Jeb had any hope of taking his car out of his garage, but a wind storm knocked down so many large trees from the saturated soil, that his access roads were once again blocked and it was weeks before the logs could be cut and removed. Finally in December, Jeb had his chance but an early storm ripped out much of the patchwork from the spring and summer and again Jeb was blocked from reaching his cabin to drive his fun car. That next January, during a break in the storms, Jeb retrieved his SUV and drove it back to the car dealer and asked for his money back for the last twelve months on his vehicle because he didn't have a chance to drive it the whole year! |
July 3, 2020 OZ40 549 posts | We also purchased vehicle insurance, so far because of this bogus virus scare they have sent us two checks due to lack of driving. It's one thing to voluntarily choose not to engage in an activity you paid for (kinda like most guys with gym memberships). It's another thing if the gym takes your money and doesn't deliver a service. That said, I have a five year SSUSA card, even now having played pre-virus, I feel I've got good use out of it and personally I don't want any money back. |
July 3, 2020 just joe 33 posts | GUYS,YOU MEAN YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ABOUT $15. YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING |
July 3, 2020 Cowboys22 8 posts | My view is that we help out when we can. Senior softball gives us something that we all enjoy. I do want to thank the people who work for senior softball. I was a late add on for the tournament in Yuma, Az. I needed a snowbird card and they said that they would look at it Monday. I told them I needed it for tomorrow. ( Friday) They said they would get back to me. About an hour later on my way to Yuma, they okayed it and sent my new card on my phone. I’m pretty sure his name was Tyler!! So I got to play and the tournament was ran very well by the directors that were there. I did see Terry and Doug there. I would like to thank senior Softball for their fast action for letting me play. We even won the 60 major division. Let’s keep helping Senior Softball. It is so important to my life and hopefully yours!!! |

July 4, 2020 Big pond Men's 50 10 posts | Or should we all send in an extra $15 for all the money SSUSA has lost this year. So we can be sure they can survive and we can have softball next year |
July 4, 2020 OZ40 549 posts | I can see it now an SSUSA Go Fund Me page to help keep grandpa active and off of the streets and out of gangs! |
July 4, 2020 domer 36 posts | It’s a fee, let it go. Dave for those who want a discount or fee’s waved for this year just give it to them and raise their fee’s next year to make up the difference |
July 4, 2020 DaveDowell Men's 70 4296 posts | Thanks everyone for your insights ... Of the top 50 priority issues we're facing right now, this one is maybe around #84! ... After the season concludes, we'll assess what happened and regroup for 2021 ... As you all have experienced too, it's been very frustrating being unable to overcome the restrictions placed on our sport by outside influences and governmental entities ... Please keep hoping for good things! ... |
July 4, 2020 stever Men's 70 99 posts | This is silly! The card covers 5 years. That would mean each year is worth $3! And people wonder why some seniors are seen as cheapskates! Oh, I forgot, you"re on a fixed budget. |
July 4, 2020 jimperry19 67 posts | The man asked a simple question and gets blown up by everyone. And Stever, you need to read the fine print, serious. Senior softball is a great value but it's not 3 bucks a year. |
July 5, 2020 sdc 34 posts | Agree with you jimperry19 man just asked a question. Do I agree with his question NO. But at the same time it is just a question.Years back when I joined SSUSA they stressed if you post do it with respect. If you disagree with a post do it with respect. A few years back two Seniors were banned for a little while from the message board because of their remarks towards others. Wow how times have changed. SSUSA was quick to point this out. Now everything is acceptable on this board. What happened SSUSA. Yea I know if I don't like don't get on. |
July 6, 2020 curveball Men's 65 705 posts | One banned member back a bit was a member of a small faction who would argue any point, as long as it was against SSUSA or it's rules. We have a few who still work against the association on everything. Never understood the reasoning, kind of like shooting yourself in the foot! In this time of chaos, carry on SSUSA. |
July 7, 2020 stever Men's 70 99 posts | jimperry19. I could have worded it a little clearer, I guess. I meant to say that by covering 5 years it averages out to $3 per year. This is just one year of the 5. If you got your card when you entered the age group you have (or had) four more years you can (or could have) played. So even if you lose this full year does not mean you lose the total value of the card. |
