Vegas World still going to require a one time tourney prior to worlds?
Just curious if we still have to play a qualifier prior to playing in the Worlds? We have signed up to play tourneys all season and all of them have been cancelled as our state has been completely shut down due to C-19. If Vegas allows us to play the Masters tourney it would probably be our first and only one of the season. Any insight on this would be much appreciated.

SSUSA Staff,

Thanks for responding and will wait patiently for your response. I just hadn't seen this issue in any prior post so sorry if the question had already been asked.

No worries and no issue at all ... Look for an article on that and related topics in the soon to be published Senior Softball Newspaper Summer Edition coming to an email inbox near you in the next few days ... Thanks!

allowing all to play in the Master tourney would comprise a first and only time for all of the teams during this Covid shortened season... Even if SSUSA has to make it a 3 or 4 session events to minimize the clustering of teams and age groups... :)

Yo Sal, well said! I'm guessing that a lot of teams are Jonesing to play, and God only knows that SSUSA could use the business right now. Probably most of us want to play but...there are those who will chose not to go because of the pandemic and we all support there decision.

My guess is they could draw close to the 600 teams that comprise this tourney yearly, and we know in the past has drawn well over that. If we practice the new norms we could all be safe to a certain extent, but keep in mind you can catch it anywhere even if you stayed home. I personally hope Vegas lets us play!

That's probably pretty easy to do ... Maybe for those teams who decline to play in a qualifier, we could just move them up one rating level to ensure nobody is sandbagging just to play down ... That would work pretty well! ....

Dave

Your idea of moving up teams who don't play in a qualifier one rating is genius. Make it happen.

Lol Dave...GOOD ONE!

I don't think most of the teams going to Vegas Worlds purposely did not play in any qualifiers to sand bag. If your like me in Cali it's been completely shut down and were dying to play. Unless you won some major tourneys
last year or added some new players I'm guessing most teams can stay in there same division?

Does SSUSA look at all 600 plus teams rosters prior to Worlds? if so they definitely earn there money and that could possibly weed out any stacked teams.

Benji...Make it happen! lol

I've heard there is one team Battle Born out of Nevada that is stacked with 5 to 6 major plus players playing major. Players came from Crush and Thunderstruck. Crush was bumped to major plus and Thunderstruck won the major Worlds the same year 2018. Some people are curious why that's allowed to happen with a two year exemption in place.

Thank you for the interest in our team. We have two former Crush players, one being me and I am still ranked M+. The other one was re-ranked because of the bad team he played on last year. There are 3 former Thunderstruck players on the team two of which are ranked M+ the other was re-ranked for medical reasons. So we have 3 M+ players total and that is what you are allowed as a major team in SSUSA.

Ok guys
I wasn't going to say anything, but COME ON:
Quit bitching on who plays who or if someone is sandbagging or not.
We all Just want to play
Lace them up, do your best and see what happens. (that's what HR limits are for)
Just my 2 cents worth.

PS Benji, I hope you saw that Dave was joking...
I am sure that SSUSA wants Vegas to happen as much as we do. It will help make their season from becoming a total loss.

It's not bitching it's enquiring and asking an honest question expecting an honest answer.
We all want to play and at the same time keep integrity in the game. If it's all good then let's play ball no worries.

Lightning2 ... Please trust us to do our job on roster review & certification ... We detail check the roster of every single team that enters any tournament, and especially the Eastern/Western National's and/or The World Masters Championships ... We have about 30 years worth of experience doing this, so it's not a new approach or process ... It's going to be OK, we promise!

SSUSA STAFF... Thank you, we as players in this league appreciate that. Unfortunately the decision process is not always consistent.
Dropping a major plus player just because they played on a lower quality team the year before in my opinion is not keeping integrity in the game. In addition team already has 4 major plus players on the team having one drop down because of injury. Ironman#6
Appreciate your honesty with respect. Nothing wrong with building the strongest team you can.

In that particular instance, the explanation, and accordingly your objection, could have been better worded ... The player was NOT dropped in rating because he played for a bad team ... His personal experience rating history with that team was downgraded because the entire team's rating was lowered based on a performance review ... That has the effect of modifying the rating number for every member of that team and is not individual player-specific ... We do our best despite your questionable assertion "..Unfortunately the decision process is not always consistent.." ... Here's a bit of free advice: "..If most teams would spend, say, about 10% as much time worrying about their own team as they do other teams, they would ‪likely have a better ball club.." ... Don't worry too much about this ... It ain't rocket science!

In my case Dave you hit the nail on the head with your quote as I work for a rocket company and the big wigs tell us...Don't worry about other people worry about yourself! so in my case...it is rocket science lol.

SSUSA Staff I'm amazed that you guys check that many rosters as I'm sure that's very time consuming and sure some player ratings may get missed, but just play ball and have fun!

We should all be thankful we seniors have this organization to do what we love to do! Even if we don't play ball this year take my fee with no reservations and help out the staff! I'm sure will all be ballin soon!

Here is the thing. Our Crush team got bumped after playing and wining one ssusa tournament that year. Rock-n-Reno. We could not pick up any player to improve our team to compete better in M+ because everyone is already on teams. Was it right to bump us after one tournament win. No not in my opinion, but that is what ssusa decided so it does no good to bitch about it. To answer Dbax question the whole team was re-ranked because they could not compete in M+. The system is no way perfect. I personally want to play against the best competition because it makes you a better player. I play left field for Battle Born my jersey number is #6 my name is Chris. Feel free to come by and talk to me if you like. I would prefer that rather than behind a computer. All of my typing was for nothing because this season is pretty much a wash anyways.
