It's Vegas ... How close to "crystal clear" is your crystal ball? ... I would imagine the odds will vary by which casino Sports Book you are in! ... We're currently betting the "OVER" on it happening ... There might be multiple "Plans B" under consideration, NONE of which we intend to disclose currently ...

I don't understand why you all don't plan to disclose when people need to make decisions on travel. The sooner the better for players and teams. Vegas isn't like other tournament if you live in the Midwest. There is no drive for us all flying. The sooner the better would be great.

Jay ... If SSUSA is "you all", we're a bit confused by your observation ... The dates and location of the 2020 LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters Championships in Las Vegas from September 17 through October 4th have been a constant since last November, which should meet the definition of "soon enough" for most reasonable people ... If that changes in the future, we'll certainly let you know immediately ... We have NO current indication that it will change ... In the meantime, we discourage placing much reliance on random and unfounded rumor and speculation ... Thanks!

Most, if not all commercial airlines are waiving change fees for flights and offering full credit if your trip is impacted. Why not just book the flight and make the change IF it should become necessary?

We are all in and excited about coming to Vegas for Worlds! Everyone has their flight and look forward to a great weekend!
Quick question....I know venues rotate every year....any idea which park will be hosting the 50 Major? It would help in securing location of hotels. Thanks!

Casey39 ... We won't have any chance of making that determination prior to about Labor Day, shortly after the entry deadline passes ... In this COVID-influenced Season, it's virtually impossible to accurately project team attendance and, therefore, Divisional deployments this far out front ...

Looks like the first 2 sessions for World Masters Tourney will be in St. George. This was taken from the tourney section of SSUSA site.

SSUSA has received notice from Clark County, Nevada, that the fields for the first three sessions of the 2020 World Masters Championships will not be available because of the new COVID-19 protocols established by the governor.

We will be moving the first two sessions of the World Masters (Men's 55 - 60 / Men's 65 - 85) to St. George, Utah for this year. We will post hotel information in St. George as soon as possible. Please be sure to make any needed lodging changes.

The two sessions will each be held over three (3) days: Men's 55-60 (Sept. 18 - 20) & Men's 65 - 85 (Sept. 21 - 23).

We are looking for alternative fields for the third session, the Men's & Women's 40, currently still scheduled for Sept. 25-27. We will update the men and women 40 age divisions as soon as we confirm alternative fields.

Yep, as though there's not enough going on right this moment with three "majors" underway sumultaneously at the Western's (St. George), Spring National's (Lakeland) and Northern's (Lansing) ... Life around here isn't boring! ... Ha!

Just a simply question. Now that the World's are a 3 day event instead of the 4 day originally planned, is the fee still going to be the same ? I don't care either way and I'm not starting a debate, I just want to know how much to write the check for. Thx.

The Wizard • It's a fair question, so here's the honest answer ... The entry fee will remain the same because it's the same five-game schedule format ... The three-day structure is based on our belief that attendance will be off a bit this year (Captain Obvious moment there) and we likely won't be some of the "monster brackets" we've seen previously that require so many games ... Three days "should" do it without undue pressure ... We'll find out! ... Thanks ...

Not to be disagreeable but the five-game schedule format is the same as what we use for most of the events we're playing in. I thought the higher fee for this event was because of the outlandish charges that Las Vegas has for the use of their fields (at least that was the argument you folks used when you last raised the price).

That's funny stuff, RonnieGM ... If you think this event just got CHEAPER by having to move it 125 miles up the road on short notice, you would be mistaken ... It didn't ... Your somewhat "disagreeable" theory crashes and burns the moment you presumed that St. George facility lease rates are cheaper than Las Vegas ... That's not true either ... We're going to offer the tournament anyway, we'll continue to be totally transparent in the process, because that's what we do, and we won't compel anyone to play ... If raising the entry fee a grand total of $50 over the past five years (that's $10 per year) creates an unreasonable burden on your team, by all means take the year off and reconsider the 2021 event! ... However, we hope to see you in St. George next month ...

Sorry first time I posted, I didn't see this before I started another post but
I am the manager of the Speedwerx 55 Major+ team that wants to play in the Worlds but since we were first timers in the Major+ bracket, I thought we would take advantage of the Thursday - Saturday brackets and play that have been going on for while. I am fine with the change in venues but why change our dates. Especially for the 55+ Major bracket, it is a very few number of teams, most likely less than 12, so why can't we get a field or two on Thursday to start our tournament pool play and still finish on Saturday. The change of hotels is nothing but the price is airfare is going to almost double the trip and people that thought they would be working on Monday, would change there flights to get home on Monday and may not be able to get that day off for PTO.....The change in flights also conflicts going home with all the other 55/60 teams on late Sunday or early Monday, so please re-consider trying to find fields for the 55 Major+ bracket to start on Thursday.
Otherwise we could just take our chances that we will not make it to Sunday in this bracket, which there is a very good chance of that happening but what if??, we are not going to Las Vegas to lose. Any other 55 Major+ teams in the same boat!

Thanks, Willie20

That's OK Willie ... I know who you are ... You're the guy who dragged me through the weeds to get you a special end time in Loudoun County (MD) at the Eastern's because I didn't build the schedule around your unknown to me airline bookings YOU made before the schedule was released ... You're also the guy who was, shall we say, extremely reluctant (read: declined) to play the teams you SHOULD have played in the 10,000 Lakes event next week, causing me to have to draft that schedule TWICE ... And now you're the guy who want's to re-define the World Master's Championships dates of play for the 55-Major+ division ...

Let's make this easy to understand ... The three-day structure, Friday through Sunday, for the 55-Major+ in St. George will NOT be further altered ... You will be flying into Las Vegas regardless of whether the event is in Las Vegas or St. George, which is about a 2± hour run up I-15 ... Plan your flights around a presumptive game schedule that has you playing in the first game of the day on Friday, typically at 8:00 AM, and has you being fortunate enough to win the "If" game on Sunday afternoon, typically at 3:30 PM ... If you do that, [1] your game and flight schedule will fit nicely between and around those bookends and [2] you'll be able to play without being encumbered by also trying to do my job as the master scheduler, which I find somewhat annoying ... "I got this" because it certainly isn't my first rodeo! ... If you want to spend a bit of extra time in Las Vegas on your trip, I believe that's legally allowed on either end of the fixed tournament schedule ... Good luck!!

Dave, let me try to set the record straight on the 3 items you addressed for our 55 major+ team:

1. (Eastern Nationals) I never booked the reservations to Baltimore (until 7/14) for the Eastern Nationals (wknd of 7/30) until I had one simple question answered! If we were one of (2)55 Major+ teams at the Eastern Nationals (Ohio Elite being the other), if it would be a best of 3 and would it be done on Saturday (which was answered on 7/13). The cost was the same to fly back on Sunday or Monday, except for extra expenses (that each player pays for)! At least 4 of the players from Ohio Elite that stayed at the same hotel all left on Sunday morning also, so BOTH teams needed to know to book there reservations.

2. 10,000 lakes event - I requested "IN POOL PLAY" if we could play (2) teams we have battled for 4 years off and on in previous tournaments, THE SAME AGE BRACKET but (55 Major) teams. We knew we were going to be in the same bracket as the (2) 50 Major teams, who we recently played a month ago. For 5 years when we played 50 Major at Worlds we never made it to Sunday. So we were a below average 50 Major team then and I assume we are worse now, since a majority of our team will be 60 next year.

3. Worlds - Since we were flying to Las Vegas already on (Wednesday 9/16) and like your post mentioned,(plenty of time to see LV) the venue change has never been the issue. I really doubt for us, if the dates will really matter!! Since we would have to make it to Sunday for us to have issues, we are heading to Las Vegas to gamble and play ball!! I personally will gamble that we don't make it to Sunday. I will use 2 of my favorite saying's in closing (there is a chance, it is called "No Chance") as far as making it to Sunday! I am pretty sure when we booked our flights the FIXED tournament schedule was Thursday 9/17 thru Saturday 9/20 for 55 Major+ unless I misread something. Either way "it is not WHO is right but WHAT is right"! ....SSUSA made changes and we the players need to adapt!

I want to personally thank you for making the top 2 requests happen! I will be sure I will try to look you up at Las Vegas, so I can introduce myself, I am really not that bad of a guy. I am really sorry if I annoyed you or anyone else on the SSUSA staff for any of my requests, it was never my attention. Thanks, Willie

NY˛ ... The choice of the specific softball "flavor" is probably about minor detail #37 on the "to be addressed later" list ... We can say with reasonable certainty only that it will be optic yellow, spherical and have .44 cor/375 comp. technical specs ... As for the rest of it, the decision will be made and announced sometime before September 18th ...
