Shirts and Caps at the Worlds
When we were playing at Gubler Park for the WNC tournament, I inquired about WNC shirts for sale, as there was nobody at the park selling them. I found out that they were sold out at the other parks in St. George. I would like to offer a suggestion to the SSUSA staff. Now that we are moving the games back to St. George for the World Masters, let's have more WMC shirts and caps available for sale at all of the complexes. I, for one, would like to get a shirt and a cap as souvenirs of our tournament experience, so I would hate to go home empty-handed just because not enough shirts were printed. For a tournament like the World Masters, players and fans will want to buy such souvenirs, so let's keep those printing presses going. Thank you for your consideration.

Carl, in a normal year you could find any shirt you wanted on the 2nd day of play if you didnt pick 1 up on the 1st day. This unfortunately is not a normal year and im sure that was partly the issue with shirts at the Westerns. The printer doeant want to get stuck with a bunch of specific tourney shirts that are dated.

You should have no problem at the Worlds in St George but id probably advise if it is important to you to have one, id grab one the 1st day.

Good luck !

I'm not sure who told you that the WNC souvenirs were sold out at all of the parks, but that's not entirely accurate ... There were NO "sell outs" because we intentionally did not sell souvenir shirts at that, or any other, SSUSA event this year since the COVID-Pandemic began ... This was based on our decision NOT to contribute to additional opportunities for close personal contact by individuals ... Souvenir sales for the World Masters Championships have historically been handled by a third-party vendor based in Arizona ... Before you ask, we are currently not aware of their sales intentions, if any, for this year's event ...

Thank you for the clarification. For a major tournament like the WMC, it would be nice to have shirt and cap sales, so I hope this third-party vendor can work up something to make it work. Thanks again!

I hope so to ... I've got a 20± year collection streak intact! ... But SSUSA isn't the entity that has to commit to (presumably) 10's of 1,000's of dollars in merchandise with no guarantee of being able to sell enough of it to make a fair return on that investment ... We'll announce the result when we find out ...

Just a thought...maybe SSUSA can work with the vendor and do a pre or post tournament sales online. Players would place orders using the SSUSA or Vendors web site. Then the vendor would how many shirts/hats were ordered. This method would allow them to know if it's cost effective and the actual amount they need.

It would solve the "Social Distancing" issue.
