Our team played in Manassas but I was told by RT of Kayson's 55's that the Pensacola Merchants double dipped Kayson's 55's for the 55 upper bracket championships.
Maybe someone from the 50's will post the other results.

In Manassas, we, Hollis/Combat/Truncell won the 55 Major while Damon's Grill won the 50's Major.

We were feeling pretty good after we scored 23 runs in the second inning of our final game. I need to remember "don't count your chickens before they hatch". We were ahead by the score of 30-4 and Sportsplex showed their hitting ability and almost beat us. Final score, 35-34. Sportsplex, that was a great display of hitting!
See you in KC!

Bruce, there were no 55 teams other than us.It's the way its been most of the year. We play 50major teams or major +. But, it"s o.k. because it's good practice for us. We made a good showing. Hope to see everyone in Kansas City. Good Luck.

Dale,

When i left Almost Old (John Hayes new team) was beating Monster Softball in the finals of the 50's. If Monster came back they would have to play a second game. They were down alot when i left so I assume they lost and John Hayes team won.

Monster if you came back and beat them then I'm sorry i jumped the gun and left before it was over. Missed a great comeback if you won it. Results unless Monster had a great comeback.

1. Almost Old (New team with John Hayes)
2. Monster Softball
3. Birmingham 55
4. Ga Albama Masters
5. A team out of Arkansas
6. Kaysons 50's
7. Silver Hawks
8. Micky Blevins Construction

There was certainly some great hitting this weekend and as usually a great tournament to play in.

I'm a little confused. I thought Ga. Ala Masters (last year Southern Softball) was a 55 team that was bumped up to Major after winning the NSA Nationals in Rock Hill.
Did they move to 50? If they are 55, why don't they play the other 55 teams?

Hi Bruce,

I think they were put back into the 55 AAA division. They combined the AAA 50, 55 and they also added a 60 major team to the 50's bracket. the 60's team was the one that beat old South there last year or the year before. They hit the ball.

Ga Albama Masters put on a hitting clinic against us. We were down 18-1 going into the 4th and none of their runs up to that point were on errors. It Took us a while to get going, Ended up 22-18 I think and we made a few errors at the end of the game. We were more concerned about the umpires than out hitting. The unpires were not bad and they didn't cost us any runs except when one guy overruled the homeplate umpire on a call where he was behind the play. It was the correct call though. We were outplayed by them. We dropped balls ade mistakes and they played well. Great bunch of guys and it's always fun playing them.

In the 50/55 Major Brkt The Kaysons Grill Team was the only 55 team in the tourney play, for some reason we Kayson, Pensacola 50 major, and the Barely Legal Major 50 team was the only team playing each other all weekend . The 50/55 brkt had 8 teams that did not want to play up only the Sky Hawk wanted to play better teams to get ready for their National tourney.
we did get double-dip by Pensacola Team that got HOT and you could not get them out.
One side note we used a sorry Dudly ASA 44/375 ball that ASA would have been proud of. In our last game we could even hit one HR and the Pensacola team only hit 2

Almost Old (JH Masters) didn't need the if game. They out paced us (Monster Softball) 28 to 23 I think the final score was. We were down 21 to 4 going into the bottom of hte 4th. All our pitchers (especially me) couldn't find the plate or the mat. When we did, they hit the ball. No problems with the balls on that field. Two out per team and several bounced off the fense.

Having 8 teams in the bracket was nice for a change. Playing new teams (Arkansas Team) makes the tournament quite refreshing.

Cheers to Faucetts for putting on a quality tournament.

Leo, Robbie Faucett gets his love for the game of softball from his dad, Bob Faucett. I played with Robbie on his dad's team back in the 80's and 90's. Bob at one time was the region director of ISA.
It's no surprise that the tournament went well.

Bruce, When I decided to combine the 50' & 55" there only 2 teams in the 55 division. Kayson's and Ga./Ala Masters. In the last week I got 3 more 55 teams. I had already told everyone that I was going to combine the Divisions. It would not have any effect on the Kayson's 55 team because they were the only Major team and was goint to play in the upper bracket anyway. The Ga/Ala masters are not a major team they are rated AAA. The Choctaw Farm team was part of the 60 John Bale Chevrolet team. I must add that they are a class team. I had no problems with any teams or players and I hope they enjoyed the tournament. I explained to Elmo that I overlooked who they were playing in the RR. I shouldn't have had them playing against the same teams in there division.. It was my mistake, but to late to correct. Most of the scores indicated that everyone was in the correct bracket. All of the Results should be posted on the SPA website later this week or next week as Ridge has all of the results.

Robbie, I have got no complaints. It was a great tourny and we needed the practice. I guess there just aren't enough teams in the south for all divisions to have a bunch of teams. You did an excellent job. See you in Dalton.
