Just an interesting observation from this past weekend in Kingman ... The State of Maryland sent five (5) teams to the 40-Masters divisions of play for Session #3 of the World Masters ... Here's how they did ...
• 40-Major-Plus • LB/Spirits West/SMC – CHAMPION – Won USA National Championship Game – Won Triple Grand Slam
• 40-AAA • NOTE: NorCal's Above & Beyond Plumbing (CA) won the unofficial "Maryland State Championships"
Finalist – Gigantes O.C. 40's (MD)
3rd Place – Potomac Sports 40 (MD)
4th Place – Rough Ryders (MD)
5th Place (tie) – CBD/True North Remodeling (MD) (eliminated by 3rd place neighbor Potomac Sports 40's) – USA National Champion
You guys travel spectacularly! ... Congratulations!
Thanks Dave,
I couldn't he happier for the Spirit's West guys. They played anywhere and everywhere they could this year in search of a stated goal. They wanted it all and got it all.
The AAA bracket was fun, but I enjoyed the off field stuff as much as the Ws. The guys from Sicarios, A/B Plumbing and GTR were fun, fun people that I look forward to seeing again down the road. After all, that is what this old man ball thing is supposed to be about, right?
That's great to hear about the Lost Boys/Spirits West crew ... They won deservedly over a strong field of Major+ teams ... As for the AAA's, I remember thinking as the bracket narrowed down late Saturday night and into Sunday morning, "Gee, there are a lot of Maryland teams left!", then all of the sudden, it became "Wow, it's only A&B Plumbing against the entire State of Maryland!" ... A&B hung on and are the only team in ANY 40-Master's division, men or women, to come through entire three days unbeaten ... Impressive! ... I know, Tim, how hard you've worked over the past few years to bring a lot of new Eastern 40's teams into the SSUSA family, not just in Maryland ... This has gotta feel good ... Enjoy it ... You certainly earned it! ...
Thanks Dave for the words, we have a great group of guys that know how to play. Also thanks for Timmy for always finding a way to allow us to play. We also thanks those AAA and Major Maryland area teams for not complaining about us playing in those tournaments, I'm 100% sure it help prepare them for the worlds.
Looking for to Major ++ next year I guess....lol
