Looking for a team for the Western Nationals
Will be in Reno July 16-23 and and looking to play for a team in the Western Nationals. Our team, the Modesto Blackhawks had planned to play in the 55 AAA division but due to unforseen circumstances some of our players cannot make the trip. I also play on the Hawaian Pride team 65 AAA (formerly Hawaii Kanaono) and the Hawaii Kanaono Makakilo team 60 AAA. All teams will not be playing in this tournament. I play L field, LC and a pretty decent second base. My batting average runs around 700. For boundary purposes, I live in Hawaii so I can only play with teams from Hawaii, California, Washington, and Oregon. I have my up to date card, bags are packed, ticket in hand, just need a team to play for. If you need a player contact Guy at 808-337-9978 (h) or 808-346-0238 (C), or reply to this e-mail. Aloha Guy.

Get in line. I asked first!

Looking for team in Reno July 20-22
My 60's team dropped out of the Reno tournament due to missing players. I'm sitting here with a plane ticket and would like to play with a 55 team that weekend.

I play LCF-RCF with a plus arm and have good speed (love to slide). Line-drive hitter. Have been hitting #2 in lineup. Played 55-AAA last year, playing 60-AA this year. Email me at stattad@hotmail.com

Our team went thru this last year and here's what we learned. Teams can add a player or players at any qualifier by just putting them on the roster you submit to ssusa for checking. A player that's already on some other team has to get a release from that team to be added to yours and he can't go back after. I guess you now only get one release a year. The east and west nationals and the world champs are different. You only can play in those with a roster from a previous qualifer. dude and stattad are going to have to be approved before, and it wasn't easy for us to do. They will still need to get the release and I sort of remember that there were limits on how many total players the team wanting one of them already has and what the reasons are that the team that wants them is. There were also things like the new guy had to be from the same rating level and from the same on an older age group. It was a pain, and we got one guy added, but it was no easy thing for our manager.

Gary- dropping the "I" bomb about integrity was off base. Weird things do happen in qualifiers, but these last 3 big tournaments are tight on add-ons, and about the only way a team adds a player is because they have a real hardship, like injury, but not because the team in need is just trying to load up. With what we went thru, we feel better about these last 3 tournaments than we do about some of the crazy rosters we played against in qualifiers.

c'mon Gary. Next you're going to be harping about Chicken Little causing a chunk of the sky to fall on and injure someone. And it'll probably be found out to be the same composite material as a U-II. We're honest and honorable people. Try being the same. You make yourself out to look devious and dishonest with all of these what-if's. And since you asked, our cases were a torn achilles tendon and a knee replacement that didn't heal in time for him to play. Hopefully, those are good enough reasons for you.

Lecak- That skit shopuld be required watching before anyone here is allowed to post. Way too many of the threads here could be easily confused for that skit! Thanks for the post.

To stattad: I apologize if I seem to be trying to get ahead of you in line. I did not realize that you had even posted a similar post. Again my apologies.
To Lecak: Mahalo for your kind words and support.
To Desert Guy: Mahalo for your detailed explanations, appreciate the info.
To all others. I did not mean for this discussion to get off on the wrong foot, wrong angle or touch some raw nerves.
I am just an ordinary ball player whose greatest desire is to play as much senior softball as possible, like a lot of other seniors out there. My wife refers to me as the perfect example of a crazed ball player. We spend a great deal of our lives around playing senior softball.
To all others who have posted to my e-mail. I have deceided to withdraw my request to join a team at the Western Nationals, as the request has set off way too much controversy with other senior players. Creating hard feelings between and among other senior ball players was not my intention at all. I will still be in Reno simply because as Lecak said, I have already purchased my ticket, rented a hotel room and rental car and the penalty to cancel the ticket alone is large. However, I will be at the games just as a fan cheering the rest of you on. To stattad I just got out of the line.
To Desert Guy and Lecak. What age , team and division do you guys play? If playing in the Western Nationals would like to be a fan at your games!

dude--
That was supposed to be my attempt at humor. Without any emoticons (happy faces, etc.) it's pretty hard to determine intent. Have fun in Reno. Looks like I'm not playing either.

Dude:
Just because someone disagrees and voices their opinion does not imply that their feelings echo the majority. If you wish to play in Reno and you can legally find a team, why care if there is a dissenting opinion?
As long as you don't break any senior softball rules, you're good to go. First of all though, make certain that it is ok with your normal team and with the association.
Gary:
I seem to remember that we could pick up as many as 3 guys to play in the USSSA National tourney 30 years ago... and they played in the same regional qualifier as we did but with other teams (that didn't qualify).
If you would like for me to name dates, places, players, teams, etc., I can do so. Ideally, you'll take my word for it.
But why is this concept so earth shattering for you? It is 'business as usual' from my perspective. Surely they played a lot of USSSA in Ohio back then... teams like Savanna Cafe (Greater Cincinnati Sports), Steele's, etc.
