World Championships in NV
Given the current situation in Las Vegas regarding the increase in new Covid cases and the mask mandates going back into affect, is there a contingency plan in place if Las Vegas does another shut down?

If and when that may be appropriate ... In the interim, The World's are in Las Vegas as scheduled ...

Regarding any change, like there was last year from Vegas to St. Georges, please remember that thousands of people are in the process of making flight arrangements, rental car arrangements, hotels and other accommodations to play... the benefit of a timely notice would clearly be beneficial to everyone...

Here are the Covid-19 total case for Washington County, which is where St. Georges is located
St. Georges is in Washington County, which is currently fifth in total cases...

5) Washington County
Total Cases = 20,522
Total Deaths =204

Las Vegas is in Clark County which has about 78% cases in the state...

Cookie92 ... While we agree conceptually with you about "..the benefit of a timely notice would clearly be beneficial to everyone..", we also believe that there is NOTHING to announce unless and/or until there is a change in circumstances ... The World's are scheduled to begin on September 16th in Las Vegas ... If that changes, we'll let you know immediately ... Good luck!

This isn't really difficult Cookie92. Cases are surging all over the country but events are still happening. If you are concerned about the virus, the variants or have concerns about any impact to your health, then don't book the trip.

It's really the same decision making process that you went through when signing up to play in the Richmond, VA worlds this weekend. PS- good luck down there.

Tim,

1) I agree that events are still happening all over the country
2) Not concerned about a virus that has a 98 % survival rate, which is more than a majority of cancers. The Delta variant, which is appearing to be less deadly, I believe will probably have a better survival rate.
3) As best as I can tell from the search I did on this web site, it looks like a decision to move the tournament to St. Georges occurred somewhere around August 20, 2020, or about a month before last year's tournament started
4) It's really called consideration and understanding your customer....

The players and fans attending the tournament have to make the arrangements themselves and the money (including loss of any deposits) comes out of their pockets. Your travel expenses are likely picked up by SSUSA...

Personally I think that SSUSA is forntuate to have on board, as you go beyond the limitations that are placed you on by others in order to keep us players informed as to the scores from the tournaments.....

All I am saying is remember who your customers are the issues they have to go through...

Brotherhood, I highly doubt Vegas will go into another lockdown. I think the local officials will leave it up to the businesses to require masks indoors, that seems to be the prevailing trend nationwide. I also don't think that the virus infection rates warrant lockdowns, vaccine is available and herd immunity is growing everyday.

Right now there is a mandate for masks indoors. Our Governor has stated he is not going to shut down again but then again he is a politician so you can't trust him.

Just one comment on a previous post about covid and cancer comparison. To my knowledge, cancer is not a contagion and is irrelevant in this comparison. Anyway if you are going to go to any tournament, I encourage all to use common sense and be careful. Unfortunately common sense is lacking in this time. Good luck and stay safe

I looked at some room rates in St George for that time period (if that happens to be the alternative that materializes) and they are all round $350 to $450 per night. Let's hope it doesn't come to that!

If Vegas Worlds does move to St. G, you might want to consider renting a travel trailer during your stay. Call Elevation Fitness at 435-772-8348 and ask them to have Clara Seegmille call you. She has RV trailers she rents. Since all the St. G area fields are fairly close to each other, she has several places where she would park it for you.

That's hilarious, Pete ... I was using my "2 x 4 Upside the Head" font, but it's likely not going to work ... Wish I had that kind of time! ...

Bruce303, rooms everywhere have dramatically gone up. You definitely want to use the discount code this year. In the past it didnt seem to be that big of a savings but this year it helped a lot. We stay at South Point and we had a couple of guys book their rooms without using the code. They were originally going to be over $770 for Wed thru Sat nights. After re booking the rooms the cost was $462.

Book now if you haven't already as the discounted price is about to expire for some of the hotels.

The cost of plane tickets have also gotten somewhat expensive.
