Move Midwest Championship to St. Louis
I've got to put my 2 cents in on this topic. Rogers Sucks!! St Louis would be the best place to move the tournament. It is in the middle of the country, easy to get to and I don't remember having a tournament there. I've heard they have an excellent facility.

The Midwest Championships will NOT be in Rogers, AR this Season

Inzerillo, I will tell you that long ago we played a SSUSA qualifier in the outskirts of St Louis, and the ISA Senior World Series was at another park there for several years. It is brutally humid near the Mississippi. It was not as brutal as when we played in Memphis. I do like the river but will get to you. We have never played in Arkansas; so I can't compare.

We're working on a specific acceptable location for the Midwest Championships 2022 and are hopeful of having an announcement soon ... We can assure you there are a LOT of factors in the process ... Those include field availability on the competitive calendar dates sought by multiple sanctioning associations, support from the locality (wherever it may be), field lease economic viability, adequate and affordable hotels, dates that don't conflict with other SSUSA independent director qualifiers, etc. ... While an opinion that "Rogers Sucks" from someone whose player record indicates he's NEVER played an SSUSA event there, or that it's "brutally humid" near the Mississippi River, may have varying degrees of accuracy, they do not contribute to tying down a venue and dates for the Midwest Championships 2022 ... Patience, please ...

Dave, I hope that you had a good day off. I was really only pointing out that there have been SSUSA and ISA Senior events in St Louis because he said that he didn't think that there have been tournaments there. You know that I don't have a pony in that race, and we know that we can never please everyone. Nice forensic work again.

I live in Memphis,TN and Tunica, MS is only 1 hr from here.
(Tunica parks and rec)
It is centrally located.
It has a 4 field complex and is 10 mins from the casinos. (8 of them)
(3 fields are 300' and 1 field in bugger, but they will put up temp fencing at 300')
I ran tournaments there for many years.
The field staff is good and will work with you.
You might want to look there.
Just my 2 cents
Brett

Thanks, Brett ... We're pretty close to an announcement for the 2022 tournament, with just a few items left to be confirmed ... This event, as you know, has been problematical since the Mid-America Sports Complex folks on Shawnee, KS, gave away half of our field allocation to a youth tournament in 2014, and then the balance of the field allocation in 2015, resulting in the move to Rogers, AR ... Maybe some year soon we will be able to return to Shawnee ...

Folks in your area are hopeful that there might be an opportunity to create a "Central National's" on par with the Eastern (3 complexes/12 fields) and Western (5 complexes/17 fields) National's as soon as the 2023 Season ... Currently, there is no available to us venue combination that meets the minimum criteria, so it's on hold for now ... Be safe!

Hey Dave. Thanks for all the work you're doing to find a suitable venue. It must be stressful. We appreciate it.

Thanks Chuck ... There are two other people here (Fran & Anthony) who are actually doing the "heavy lifting" on this ... I'm just the status update guy ... But I'll pass along your kind words ...

▲ Agreed that it's a nice facility ▲ ... We've looked into it ... Issues are:
1. Not available in dates we need
2. Only 5 principal fields (ancillary fields are unfenced and/or irregular shape)

Hey Dave
What places is it narrowed down to?
Is there a specific date?
We are trying to finish our schedule
Just asking

Isn't tunica like in a state that touches the Gulf that sounds more like the south to me. Just saying Indianapolis, Louisville ,Knoxville are a little more mid west.

Omaha would be the definition of Midwest. Unfortunately, I don’t think there are enough decent fields here to handle this tourney. It would, however, be the perfect location.

Played in a tournament in DesMoines Iowa years ago. I seem to remember several good complexes. Don’t know about availability, but Des Moines is easy to get to either by driving along I-80 of flying into their airport. Just a suggestion.

DAVE!!! Great Choice!...glad to see this move to the St. Louis Area...great facilities as well. We should exceed the 37 teams that attended last year in Rogers AR. Hope to see you there!...All the best...Regards Bob Darrah

Thanks, Bob ... I'll pass your kind words on to Fran and Anthony ... They truly did ALL of the work on this complex move ... I was merely the status reporter for them ...

As information, St. Louis easily exceeded the turnout in Rogers last year. The website showed 64 teams attended. Great site choice!

I hope they do some improvements to Wapelhorst, it was pretty rough complex to play on.

Joliet il has a great 6 field complex and has many tournaments. The Midwest was good in Champaign il and just up HYWY 55 Rantoul Il built a new 4 field complex. Maybe could use both at same time.

garyheifner....yes you are correct that Rantoul complex is really good...all turfs....4 300' softball fields, and 4 baseball fields that the workers put up temporary fences at 300' and baseball pitching mounds are removable,,,,I really like that complex as well as Joilet Inwood complex had turned those 6 limstone softball fields into all turf softball fields...with upgraded concession place....

Did not know Rantoul could offer "8" new fields. Sounds like a great venue for a major tournament.
Plus teams from around the Midwest would have easy interstate travel to the site.

There are more fields in the St. Louis area that can host this tournament.

O'Fallon Family Sports Park has 8 fields all with infield turf at 325 all the way around.
The park host the NSA Senior World almost every year.
