Tournament fees
Is any tournament worth $495.00 for example; Manassas, VA prizes are a medal. Please what happened to T-shirts. At $495, they should give away a bat to each winning team. What do you think?

For me it depends on how you look at it, From players side, Assn's side or devils advocate kinda in the middle.
From what I've read about the menioned T. NO WAY.
For SSUSA's T's, yes costley from my view as a player.
BUT you alsohave to look at what they go through to put on the high quality T's that they do.
I don't think there is an assn that compares until the pay out comes up. ASA gives out for what I've een & been to, the best. But then again ASA does not go through the effort SSUSA does in putting their T's together, either. Schedules out far more in advance than the others, with updates constantly, if needed.
So, although I have done my share of complaining about fees as well, you have to also give credit to where the credit is due.
Alot of variables will have to go into the equasion to get that answer for you or your sponsor.
Do your math.

HOW ABOUT MOVING A TOURNAMENT TO A
CITY YOU CAN'T FLY INTO, NOTHING FOR WIVES
TO DO EXCEPT TOUR A CARPET FACTORY.
DRIVE 2HOURS TO GET FROM AIRPORT TO CITY.
THEN PAY MORE FOR TOURNAMENT FEE.
OUR TEAM IS TAKING LESS PLAYERS AND A
WHOLE LOT FEWER WIVES THAN PREVIOUS
YEARS. WILL PROBABLY NOT GO TO SPA
NATIONAL NEXT YEAR IF IN SAME CITY. YES YOU CAN
FLY INTO CHATTANOOGA, BUT LIMITED ON FLIGHTS
OUT ON SUNDAY EVENINGS! PROBABLY MAKES
GOOD SENSE FOR SPA, BUT NOT FOR TEAMS.
DOESN'T MATTER HOW GOOD A DEAL SPA IS
GETTING IF THEY LOSE ATTENDANCE.

Oreo,
Carpet mill, aye? What about the poor old beer drinkers or soda holics? Outlet shoppers, don't forget them.
Yosemite valley too close also, about 90 miles. Sorry.
The T's I tried to do unfortunately wouldn't fit any of those.
They were in Fresno, Ca. Serviced by most all air lines. and only about 1 min to a couple of hotel\motel\inns. or 30 min to furtherest complex 7 min to FOD park.
But no one seems to inquire orcame to worry about putting on any more. Overly costly park fields, anyway.
Maybe you should put one on...Houston (city proper) is only about 20 min ride. Not sure where fields are there. Last time I was there nothing was between airport and city...not what I hear now.
Would like to go back and see my old area.

I have no problem with tournament fees if it is a good run tournament even If I had to pay my share. Just the idea of going and playing against good competition makes it worthwhile.

I agree with OREO on the location of the SPA tournament in Dalton Ga. It was very tough to get a flight which match my schedule to be back in Ma for Sunday night at a reasonable hour as I have a local tournament at 8 AM on Mon morning. There are no direct flights to Chattanooga from Ma. and most flights are 6-7 hrs. If I didn't have to get back for Mon morning tournament it would have been easier to drive down.

How about Columbus, Ohio...Ridge was here a few weeks ago to check over the complex.. We have 32 fields at one complex...It would nice nice to have the venue in this complex as we can ALL participate and join in with the senior fun of ALL age groups. Plus, this time of the year, you have the horses, state fair, AAA baseball, and possibly some OSU football...There would be a lot of politics to get resolved....but we are hoping....We are within a few hours flying time from approx. 80-90% of the U. S. population and just approx 7 hrs. for our friends up North of the border..something to think about....
