How much longer do we have to put up with this "terrible" ball?
I'm curious.....as I know umpires keep track and SSUSA monitors number of HR's hit.....is there public access to see those numbers per year? With so many good/decent balls now being made, it's time for Baden to catch up to their competitors or SSUSA to use a different ball. Hopefully there was NOT a lengthy contract. Funny how everyone wants to buy the latest and greatest bats.....and all is taken away from a horrible performing ball.....at least for the 60 and up divisions which never even get close to hitting their maximum HR's......maybe the 40's (which should never be allowed to swing senior bats) and 50's can still generate bat speed and power to hit HR's......so let those divisions use up the rest of the Badens and 60, 65, 70, 75 & 80's be allowed to use a much better ball. I know, like this is going to happen......LOL.

Not all 60 teams are having trouble hitting their allotted amount.

Sometime softball is all about making adjustments depending on the ball used. In softball both teams have to hit, catch, the same ball for the whole tournament, wineing does no good, The old saying "BEAT US WITH YOUR BATS NOT YOUR MOUTHS" holds true here.

The Baden Fire isn't the worst ball out there by any means performance wise and like some have said both teams are hitting the same ball. I do however have an issue with the crappy covers and the fact that Baden supposedly fixed the issue with the covers getting so dirty they are almost unusable and become a safety issue with them being so hard to see. For that reason alone SSUSA should be getting away from them because what good does it do to test bats for "Safety" reasons if we are put at risk by using balls with inferior covers which will promote more injuries that shaved bats. That being said NSA, One Nation, PSA, SPA have all released upgraded balls in the past 2 years while SSUSA took a step back and now have one of the worst balls out there due to the cover issues.

My thought is with todays bats if you can’t hit a home run it’s probably not the ball.

I agree Kegs!
As for the Baden Fires, I have several in my bp bucket that were used by SPA 4 or 5 years ago. Chunks of covers are missing and many are cut. The new ones are holding up well.
I don't have a problem with them.

Gee! go figure, another softball player enamored with the long ball... SMH lol
Line drives, going backside and moving runners along should be the goal. EVERYONE can hit them out...

I really wish there was a way to post pics of just how bad these Baden balls are for getting dirty. Some of the pics buddies have sent me after playing in Vegas it's absolutely terrible how bad they look after less than a game. No other ball I have ever seen gets this dirty. But Hey I guess Baden sells more balls and SSUSA makes more money selling more balls. If you can't get a complete game out of a ball and end up using 2 or 3 balls a game because they are so filthy then it's more money for everyone but the players.

I will say playing up at Hollywood Park in Southwest championship this year, the dirty ball and the background in many situations were too close in color. You could not pick up the ball quick enough and I saw plenty that caused safety issues. How can you force a team to throw in a new ball when it's an advantage to play with one that is tough to see... Now red dirt and red dirt infields, I get it and I don't see an easy way to solve the issue but maybe a ball that doesn't get so dirty right away. I wonder also if this is just a Vegas thing? Arizona? anyone?

Everybody thinks they are a home run hitter even the smallest guy on the team.
Its amazing how may games are lost because of the home run ego of a few
players. Instead of trying to hit a single somewhere in a gap with bases juiced,
tie game bottom of the 7th the batter only needs a single into the outfield or through
the infield to win but his EGO won't let him go for the single but has to try and hit a
HR and comes up popping out to 3d baseman. Ive seen it 100's of times and what's funny
the same guy will be in a similar situation the next game and do the some thing.
