It is with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of my wonderful friend and teammate Gene (Geno) McCloskey. Geno played with the New Jersey Hitmen for over 20 years and was a major contributor to all of our championships including SSUSA at 55, 65 and 70 Major World Championships. Geno was a lifetime.700+ hitter for us and loved hitting last in the lineup because he knew the value of getting the lineup turned over especially late in a game. I would always chuckle when I would hear the other team say last batter, come in. Then often times he would drive a liner in the gap, or over the outfielder’s head. He could hit to all fields and also was an excellent infielder. Geno made many All Tournament and All World Teams. We will sorely miss him not just because of his softball abilities, but more so as a friend and person! He leaves behind a beautiful family and so many friends on several teams around the country. I know God will welcome in heaven! Geno, RIP!

a wonderful person, he will be missed by all that knew him. Condolences
SSUSA learned of Geno's passing on Saturday evening while in Tucson for the Annual Convention. His long-time teammate Dale C. Hood gave an emotional and eloquent eulogy tribute during his own induction speech into the Senior Softball USA International Hall of Fame. There wasn't a dry eye in the room when Dale concluded his remarks. Rest in Peace, Geno.
