All this bat stuff is getting overwhelming. Rolled, shaved, bat warmers, compression tests, paint chips. propane tanks.
Maybe it is time to tell all the bat makers, sorry about the massive amounts of money
at stake but:
"We are going back to metal bats".
About the only problem back then was guys who would cut off the end, stuff tennis balls or superballs in the barrel , reweld and refinished. Or the guys who cut off the handle, add 2 inches and reweld to make them 36 inches.
If a senior player has to alter or use an illegal bat in senior play, he has much bigger issues on life he most likely is dealing with. We already use the hottest bats and core 44 balls. I'm more concerned with some how getting one and being unaware. I have no clue what a shaved bat is or WTF is rolling a bat. I have 3 bats all purchased from elite sports. How would I even know if it was rolled or shaved? What's sad is that the people getting caught are guys that could most likely hit a core 52 ball with a regular ASA bat. I don't think we need to change it, maybe take a look at my bats and give me peace of mind that they haven't been altered. For me sometimes the game gets in the way of being around my team mates after the game and putting back a few mountain dews.

bad idea. the sound they make is worse than pickleball. wood, maybe
I could support wood bats in lieu of composite bats, maybe bring the offensive game back to a more natural state, and make defense relevant again. I have aluminum bats I use for bat practice, and get all shorts of weird looks from other players when they hear that "ding" on contact..it's funny. Even been told by another player they were not legal for play. But man, they last forever, and don't cost an arm and a leg. George
Why not and let’s play singles only game on little league fields. Anything over the fence is an out. Bases at 60. Works for me. Lol
The guys who don't like the todays technology is because they don't compete well against it and just need to pick another hobby.
I'm new to senior softball, started playing again after 20+ years and the discussion on bats is puzzling to me. From what I've read you can only us SSUSA "approved bats of BPF1.21 or less. Since all the associations(ASA, USSSA, etc) use the same method to determine BPF it seems kinda weird that you can't use any bat with an association approved stamp. Anyone care to comment?
using approved bats for your league dosent sound puzzling. I wouldnt worry about bpf as Im not sure all newer bats will have that rating
