Why can’t SSUSA tell teams where Teams are playing way before they put out the schedules? We are coming all
The way from Montana and we do not know a thing about Sacramento and WESTERN NATIONALS! We want to stay near where the fields are that we will be playing at. We should know atleast 4 weeks before we play!
TENTATIVE Field Assignments are released shortly after the entry deadline date so that we have actual accurate data regarding team counts and resultant game load demands to match the field inventory availability ... The last time we "guessed" on it early regarding the Western Nationals about a decade ago, there was a glitch by the City of Elk Grove (they double booked a park, and it defaulted to the "youth sports" group as a policy guideline) ... The divisions we had projected for Hal Bartholomew Park were moved to Foskett Park in Lincoln, and that little 48-mile change in plans didn't win us any popularity points ... We won't make that same mistake again! ... Plan on seeing intelligent TENTATIVE field assignments shortly after the July 8th deadline ... That's 21 days before Session #1 and 24 days before Session #2 begin play ... Both are reasonably close to the four weeks you're demanding ... We very rarely "miss" it when we do this with sound data ... It's also a fair example of the difference between when you may WANT something as opposed to when you might actually NEED it ...
Dave. The problem with the delay in getting field assignments until after the participation deadline is most of the hotels close their rate discounts before the deadline. A solution would be for SSUSA to have those hotels keep their offers open until you give out the field assignments. I usually book several hotels based upon previous years field assignments.
The very simple solution is book more than one hotel and then cancel as needed. I do this all the time, especially in Sacramento.
Dbax. As mentioned I do the same thing very early. But that fills up the discounts which in turn keeps others who don’t book early from the discounts. SSUSA should be able to get the hotels to hold those discounts until after the deadline. I’ve already booked 2 for Sac. Based on where my age bracket played the last 4 years.
Gotcha. We hardly ever book those hotels. Often find better deals on our own.
