Discussion: SCORING RULE

IF A PLAYER HITS A FLY BALL TO THE OUTFIELD WITH A RUNNER TAGGING FROM THIRD AND THE BALL IS DROPPED, HOW WOULD YOU SCORE IT. I HAVE ALWAYS HAVE GIVEN THE BATTER A SAC FLY WITH AN RBI. NO CHARGED AT BAT
Just like the major leagues do it. Sacrifice fly with an error. No at bat, RBI, but for on base percentage, the batter is zero for one. Also, the runner can leave third base as soon as the ball is touched by the outfielder.
It's softball. Everything is either a hit or an out. On base percentage should be the only concern.
I guess that’s why so many hitters say they hit 700!
If you hit a one bouncer to the pitcher and he throws it into right field, what did you do that helped your team? Hit the ball?
stattad thats how softball is ruled.its a hit our a out ..On base is what matters. Been that way for decades.
Just as Benji and r4 said, on base percentage unless your team wants to make scoring more difficult.
I have always felt that way as well. For some reason when the conversation comes up some managers disagree. Nobody ever comes up with an acceptable argument in my opinion. If you are lucky enough to get a scorer...it makes their job much easier. It also takes the pressure off them to decide what is an error or not. Also a sack fly in slow pitch softball...really?!? I think that over time...those on because of errors will show up with a lower on base percentage anyways. One of my buddies always says just "Be Better"! Something can be said for that mantra!!
