Discussion: TKR Revision Rehab

Hello folks..looking for info/opinions from players who have undergone this procedure before, and have returned/not returned to active play.I had TKR surgery 2/28/24,with implant failure and a revision 18 months later on 8/18/25. I'm planning my return to active play this April, will extend that out if knee doesn't feel ready. Presently have ext=0 rom=120,age=72 do PT every day,and follow Ortho Dr orders. He is aware of activity I am returning to. All opinions and recommendations are welcome..tku for reading this..George
9 ball, Had right TKR done 4/21, left TKR 3/22. went back to golf fall '22 but took my time getting back onto the softball field. Managed and coached travel and local '22 and '23. Finally got back playing regularly 2024 and by the end of the summer both knees finally felt like my knees. No discomfort, pain and don't even think about what I am doing other than my own rule is no kneeling. I'm 75, went to 7 tournaments this calendar year, played outfield all summer locally and headed to Lakeland and Tampa next month. I know some guys are much more aggressive about getting back on the field and I would only say, listen to your body! You'll know the difference between good pain which is using muscles/parts that are getting back into shape and pain that is doing more damage than good. Good luck with your recovery.
Tku for feedback k man. If I guessed correctly, that's your team going to TOC next month..LI Jags 75? If so,good luck! George
That's us George. Thanks Happy New Year and good luck with getting back on the field!
Tor my ACL playing soccer in ‘99 and endured many years of cortisone, Synvisc, and Stem Cell injections. The pain finally pushed me to TKR in 2023 - One in August and the other in October. What a Gift!!! Back to playing softball in 6 months, albeit gingerly at first and after one year back to full speed. 76 years young and back to being a courtesy runner for others on our team. Sorry that scenario did not work for your first procedure, but hope that round two gives you better results! Best of Luck Moving forward!
Born to run..tku for info, timeline seems to be in ballpark for my plan to return slowly after 9 month postoperative rehab...we shall see if my body agrees. As a side note,I've passed thru that area often, picking up Coors returning to the east coast..beautiful area.
