Discussion: Equalizer Rules

During any given year we seem to end up playing multiple times against AA or Major teams and with us being AAA the equalizer rules are always implmented. I don't know a single team that is the higher rank that likes playing those games with current equalizer rules. Not only do you have to give up either 5 runs or play against an extra fielder but you also have to play down to the opponents HR limits. AAA teams only being allowed to hit 1 then they're outs and Major teams only being allowed to hit 3 then they're outs.
What does everyone think if instead of when a AAA team hits their second HR instead of an out it would be an automatic double? So AAA would be allowed to hit 2 "Free" doubles to match what would normally be their 3 HRs allowed and when AAA plays Major the same would apply for Major until they hit their Max HRs.

I personally think it would a good change from the current rules it wouldn't seem like the Upper team is being punished as much. It's not only the 5 runs/extra fielder but when you add in the HR limits it can really sometimes hamper a team to play a lower division and the only benefit is getting to be home team. When AAA and Major teams build their rosters power hitters play a big role in how the team is assembled as well as the lineup from game to game and tourney to tourney.

Not looking to start an argument but just have an open discussion on an idea and if we get enough support maybe it's something we can bring to SSUSA for next years rules changes. Been playing Senior ball going on my 8th year now and one of the things I hear at every single tourney by virtually every team that has to play against lower divisions how much they hate the equalizer rules.
John, like you, definitely not looking to start an argument, just responding with my thoughts as you requested. Over the years I haven't heard many complaints about the equalizer rule. It seems fair and reasonable to me, so I from my standpoint if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
TooOldToFight,

That's a fair answer. I appreciate the feedback.
