Discussion: Rock-N-Reno: Centennial Park in Carson City

SSUSA Staff,

Have the 2 lower fields at Centennial Park been upgraded to new artificial turf? The last time we played there (a few years ago), these two fields were in pretty bad shape. Thanks.
Ok, no response from SSUSAA staff (I get it - it's the weekend). So does anyone from Reno or Carson City know the condition of the 2 lower fields at Centennial Park? Thanks.
Played golf at Eagle Valley last week they were working on the lower fields, won’t be turf but at least they had equipment on them. The upper fields road was blocked so we couldn’t get up there to see the progress.
Hopefully they do something to them because there's nothing but gopher holes in the outfield
60's are playing on newly installed artificial turf upper fields 1 and 2. They might be the first to ever play on those renovated fields.
LC7 ... The 60+ Silver Division (AAA and AA) is playing on the Lower Centennial Fields #1-2 ... The upper fields renovation project for Fields #4-7 has not been completed and did not meet their anticipated completion deadline due to an unanticipated lengthy winter weather season ... The Carson City Parks and Rec. Department has devoted a significant parallel readiness effort to make the two lower fields ready for this year's Rock 'n' Reno event ... This construction delay created significant hurdles to overcome and we're confident it will work out just fine ... We're firm believers right now in the "Wait till next year!" rallying cry ... Good luck! ...
I do not understand why 60's AAA are playing back to back years in Carson City because "Wait till next year!" is what we said last year.
Lefty_22, it's all about numbers of teams in divisions and I didn't have a lot of options ... There were three potential divisions that might have fit ...

I eliminated the Women's division from consideration because of [1] the logistics issue with several women players playing during the same session with their spouses also playing in Reno/Sparks and [2] wanting the women all in one city because of female division umpires working and lodging together ...

The Men's 40-AAA were excluded [1] because of the HR ball traffic hazard they present to traffic using Heritage Way to access the golf course and/or tennis center and [2] because they played at BOTH Centennial and in Reno/Sparks last year, not exactly an ideal commuting structure ...

That left the 60-Silver Division ... Yes, they played there last year, and no I don't like to do that ... Of the 18 teams in that Division in 2025, only six of those are making a repeat appearance in 2026, and that doesn't seem so severe ... So, I sense you're not happy with your field assignment ... Respectfully, I'm not either, but it was the best option I had when it came to decision time ... Good luck! ...
Oops. Sorry about posting bad info.
It doesn't sound severe because you are directing the tournament and not participating in it. The outfields on those two fields are TERRIBLE and that is something that they cannot fix in the amount of time that they have.
I am a returning team and I am sure a lot of the others feel the same way, those fields will not be safe to play on.
We are also a returning team from last year. It absolutely sucks to have to play on the 2 worst fields we will play on all year. We didnt even want to have bp there last year. Everyone on our team is disappointed with it but I trust Dave when he says he didn't want to put us back out in Carson City and then theres the issue with the upper fields not be ready.

I guess all we can do is make the best of it. Its not going to help getting worked up over it. It is what it is.
Not only will we have the privilege of playing in Carson City on the two FANTASTIC fields, we'll also get to play in the rain on Wednesday and Thursday. Ain't life grand?
