I guest that some players either DO NOT read or else, DO NOT understand the above.

Bill & Terry, DO NOT want to make everyone sign in. But, if the Board keeps get' more Rosey 19, comments, rules may have to be made & enforced.

Next Gen.'.... It is o.k., that u do not write ur Name, City, or Age & Division. But, I believe that most mebers that post would like to know just who is writ' what!!

I also, believe that players will respect ones post, if the author, gave their Name; City; Divison & Age group.

NEXT GEN', u seemed to be somewhat upset?? Please, layout ur thoughts or state one case(s).

4 myself, I do not want to play against older men or men in the AA or AAA Division. I have a 75 yr ol' man friend that can once in awhile hit a Home Run. This friend has had 2 knee replacements. This is a great site & feel' to c men in their 70's hit the LONG BALL.....

I do not like play' w/ the kids 4 several reasons. To much crap; I hit to many H.R., 4 outs; bad or outright sad Umps; etc.

Good luck....... the STONEMAN.....

Stoneman, just curious why you and this "einstein" character seem obsessed with who I am. I would venture that 1/2 of the people on here ID themselves. Do you go to this much trouble with all of them?

THE NEXT GEN: It really does not matter. But, it would be nice to know, thereforth, to be able to "understand" where a player, hopefully, u r a SENIOR BALL PLAYER.

There have been a few "PLAYERS", that all they wanted to do is start trouble. @ least 2, persons that POSTED, have been banned from us' this Message Board.

As far as ones age, not really important. As 4 me, I would like to know if, I am talk' to an AA or a MAJOR PLUS PLAYER. WHY? Major Plus Players, r about 3 in 10. The "better ones", stay in the Major Plus events. What this means, is that we r luck to c or play against 8 diff' Major Plus teams a yr.

In other words, most Major Plus teams, get tired of play' there same 3 to 5 teams, @ every tourney.

Also, there seems to be a great deal of Players & Teams that like to play down, in order to win a World & get a "CHEAP" ring. I have seen Major Plus Players, win 4- 5 Worlds in a yr; & then attend the next World, a week later & play down in AAA or Majors.

This play' down, out of Major Plus is a NO-NO. U deside, is this "CHEATING"??

BATS, now that is another matter.....

Hope that this POST, might help?

Stoneman, that made a lot of sense, I think. I am new at Seniors, and haven't played many tourneys, but I see there are few teams in AA and Major-plus. I don't see spending that kind of money for such small events. And I don't see playing down to win a ring, or worse yet have to buy myself one to celebrate my accomplishment of beating 3 teams.

As far as the bats, NO need for anything better than certainly what is Utrip legal. I don't see why the guys that can hit 330' with a Utrip bat needs, or wants, these Senior bats to be legal. So now they might hit the ball 360', but so what those home runs still count the same but the problem is now all the other guys who can only hit Utrip bats 275' and now hitting 305' and getting cheap homers. How does that help the good players?

THE NEXT GEN: If, one checks the team Ratings, on the left, one can read about 475 50 teams & 363 55 teams.

The rat' shows about 130 Major teams in the 50 to 55 age group. In the Major Plus Division, there appears to be 69 Major Plus teams in the 50 to 55 age group.

This rat' is greatly flawed. There is not 40 Major Plus Teams in the 50 age group. More like less than 15 Teams. Again, there is not 29 55 Major Plus teams, more like 12 to 15.

In the 50 to 55 Major Plus age groups, this DIVISION, makes up about 15%.

Bats: On a good day, most of the better Major Plus Power Hitters in the 50 & 55 MAJOR PLUS DIVISIONS, can hit any U-trip bat as far as a SENIOR BAT. Yes, ther r more than just a few 60 MAJOR PLUS PLAYERS, that can also, hit the U-trip bats 400'.

HOW DOES THAT help the good players??? U asked. If, one uses or allows the SENIOR BATS, the thought was to stop the us' of the ILLEGAL & ALTERED BATS.

This is a much beaten & tir' subject. Most really Major Plus players, DO NOT & will not use an ALTERED or ILLEGAL bat.

SENIOR BALL.... @ times is a real joke w/ plunty of jokers in a short deck. The more one plays, the more wonders just what in the hell r we, SENIORS think'.

GOOD LUCK... The STONEMAN

Stoneman, I could not agree more with your last thought. Clearly guys are free to do whatever they want and whatever they can, but to spend that much time and money on such tiny tournaments with so little meaning is a bit strange.

Why do guys tolerate this setup?

NEXT GENERATION: 4 the love of the game that I have lost the love 4. ( Since I started play' Senior Ball.) 4 the yrs, that I did dreamed of play' ball., when I was in my late 40's.

4 the summers that I worked on a trash truck & was not allowed to play baseball. 4 the lil' jerk off towns that I was forced to live in because my father was an ENLISTED MAN. My cross is mine to "bear" & no one else should have to "bear."

4 the love of the game; 4 the love of the SPORT & SPORTSMENSHIP; 4 the love of c' who is the better player on any given day. 4 the chance to meet or renew old friendships. GLORY, LAST A LIFE TIME, NO MATTER HOW SHORT, that glory lasted.

As we SENIORS get older, it will be the players that remembered us, when we were younger men or women.
As we grow old, it will be very important that the ones that remembered us as the young studs that we once were.

HELL, WHY ASK WHY? What else, do we have when we have one foot already in the ground?? STONED AGAIN.

His 2nd to last post and last sentence makes that a possibility, but if the web guy was concerned, a quick IP check would help that unless he moved, changed carriers or the like.
Some on here or lurking, are worried, it seems, that it will take from their knowledge or that ever, do not like to be challenged or criticized. Be them or the other person right or wrong. Especially if the other party is correct.

That being said, so what, why not just let bygones be, just that, gone.

taits, are only certain people on here allowed to be "right"? Do some easily feel threatened for whatever reason?

I thought this was to discuss Senior softball. Am I incorrect? In my experience there is usually at least two sides to just about everything. Not on here?

TNG,
I believe we all want to be right, but, imo, it's those who can admit their wrong, about something, that are the bigger\ better person.
I've been on both sides of that.
Threatened, I would only think about being wrong. Who wants to be?
I'v been chastised for this or that, so what, We're all still here with really the same one main thing we all have on commin, the love of playing softball and all that it comes with.
But as one person said you really do sound like Gary19, especially now.
some advise, for what it's worth or not, type lightly. That's another way to say, watch what you write.
Some here have excellent insight to what's going on, knowledgable about things or do a lot of research about subjects at hand. that helps all of us out.
For me, it's easier to go with the flow than try to stem the tide. Leave the subject, to avoid alot of BS.

TNG,
I know him reguarding softball, & he does know his sfuff.

But what any of us may disagree with as to what he says, well, here we are with that difference of opinion thing, so what.

He is also a very good player. I would like to be as good.

I believe he is, but when I read him say that without his Senior bats and "good" balls he would not play, I would not want that kind of attitude on my team.

As long as the equipment is equal for both sides, play ball!

TNG, Equipment is only there for what the player brings to the game & allows to be used during the game. So it is not always equal. Otherwise it is or would be.
I also like good balls and bats, but what the TD is using, both sides have to use it, so that is equal.
Nuff said, Gary, ok

Maybe it was more accurate to say equal "access" to equipment. I played with Harwoods and Bombats, so how could I complain about even ASA bats and solid core balls?

TNG,
Access that also has to implies money. Some have it or it's available, some do not, others like myself, unforutunately go in the hole to get something.
What a teams players bring is not the worry for the other team to have to cope with. nor should it be.
If a player wants or only has a wood bat to go up against a U-2 for example, it's not the fault of either in reality as i see it. Tho not even, as you put it, that is what they for some reason to use. Maybe the balls will be wiffle balls anyway.

SENIORS: I have watched several Major Plus teams over the yrs play. It appears that there r a few team that have almost everyone swing' a U-2. The best bats @ the time period ( the Synergy).

I have also, watch a few teams, & these teams have won several WORLD's, that have only 2-3 players use the U-2. The NSA, ISA, & USSSA approved Bats r good enough 4 most SENIORS to use.

If a SENIOR, needs a Senior Bat, these players r either old or do not have the ability or talent to be a Power Hitter... PERIOD......

In the summer, Seniors should use a 50 cor balls w/ a 400 comp. The new MCT balls hit well when the temp is in the 100 degree range. Most BALLS @ 100 DEGREES, lose 180 lbs or more of that balls compression.

The problem, if, there is a problem??? It appears that many Seniors, even in the AA & AAA, want to be Home Run hitters. Many of these Seniors do Not have the Talent, but, can buy the equipment to become a POWER HITTER.

If, there is a MARKET, someone will produce the "DESIRED" product.

This in turn, ( money), gets the Bat MFG's, to design & produce Bats the "we silly Seniors", will spend thousands of DOLLARS on BATS. WHY??? To be Home Run hitters just like "our" heros when we were small children..
