Rate the national events that you've attended this season
Please compare the events that you and your team have attended this season. Some of the parameters might be...
1) number of teams in your division...
2) ball/bat combo (did you like it or not?)...
3) location (was this a positive or a negative?)...
4) format...
5) scheduling (did they string your games out or were you able to play them in a short time frame each day?)...
6) would you go back next year? Why?...
do not feel as though you need to address every item and add any that you feel are germaine...
There have been several posts that suggested that the teams in each division do a better job of communicating with each other. One obvious benefit of this would be that we'd make an effort to attend the same events next year. This is slanted in that direction.
Thanks, BW

Here is the way I rate them, only the ones we played in will be rated

1.SPA Nationals- not as good as the past ones , but still # 1
2. Midwest Championships- ran OK, good balls and fileds, not many teams
3.. NSA Worlds-GREAT BALLS, REAL NICE FIELDS, GOOD UMPIRES
4. Columbus,IND SPA Qualfier-good fields, lot of teams-good balls
5, Indianapolis SSWC qualfier
6. Eastern Nationals, was not good, 275 ft fences,BALLS ??,
7 South Bend qualfier- SPA not good, TD is ASA man, does know senior rules.
8 LVSa- was the worse ran one of them all , but the balls were good and they had a lot of teams, the only plus I could see, but most of them told me they would not be back, and we will not be back either.

Rabbitt:
Having played in the LVSSA 4 of the past 5 years, it surprises to hear of the troubles that they had this year. As you know, this assn is made up of men and women who have played the game for a long time... and those problems seem so rudimentary.
We'll play there this weekend and there will be 8 teams in our division. This is the most that I've seen in 6 years... 55 major +. Like Bruce from GA, I'm hopeful that they resolve the issues that you and the other teams have mentioned.
We'll let you know.
Thanks for posting your feelings.

1) number of teams in your division...SPA/SSUSA usually has most teams for our 60 Major division

2) ball/bat combo (did you like it or not?)...same as above, played in ASA, decent tournament, less than good balls for the bats usede

3) location (was this a positive or a negative?)...same as #1, the seem to be spread across the country better

4) format...this seems to be the same most tournaments

5) scheduling (did they string your games out or were you able to play them in a short time frame each day?)...again this seem to be the same, they all want to spread out the games to keep you in town longer...ex: play 2 on Thursday, 1 on Friday, 2 on Sat and 2 or 3 on Sun, the last after noon on Sunday. That tournament was not played for the players, just for the money. Like most are now-a-days anyway.

6) would you go back next year? Why?...Yes, ofcourse, Don't have many years left to play and most associations now just have tournaments for the money.

Having only played in 30 or so tournaments in the last 5 years I think #1--SPA/SSUSA #2--NSA/USSSA
#3--ASA

I believe these are correct but perhaps another player that was there may know otherwise. I don’t keep that type of info.

1. For actual teams same in div to play against
A) NSA, 1 tournament 1 team in same div
B) NCSSA, 13 tournaments, with 4-6 teams in same div.
C) SSUSA, Three tournaments, I believe there were 3-5 in same div.

2. All 44\375 ok, but some makers were better than others.

3. Too many to list but main ones were for:
A) Modesto, fair fields, good concession charged for entry, not good
B) Manteca FOD, Excellent fields, good concession but high priced, charged for entry, (not good), overall Excellent
C) Carson City, Reno, Roseville, All good but for the fields in Roseville that were re-seeded, very bad playing conditions.

4. A) Seeding, double elimination.
B) Double, double elimination. Loose 2 you move down to losers bracket, loose two there your gone.
C) Do not remember what they were.

5. No matter which assn there were some in between game breaks that were 2-3-4 games in between. Too long in my opinion, otherwise just tough when some players are 250 miles from teams listed location.

6. Yes to all, for the game & camaraderie.

I feel the need to clarify a couple of things in my opening post.
format - I was referring to the way they scheduled your games in the space of one day. As an example, did you play 2 games in the am or one in the am and the other @ 8pm?
National events = the year end 'National event' from whichever assn you attended, not qualifiers or local/regional stuff.
Sorry for the confusion.

None were Q's that I mentioned. However NCSSA only had, I believe, 3 teams from out of state.

When you listed the Central Cal cities I presumed that they were regional events.
Mea culpa!

Overall, for me I would rank my experience this year in the major plus 50 and 55 division as follows:
1) Tournament of Champions - Winter Haven, Florida
2) FSSA - Maui, Hawaii
3) SPA - Kansas City, Kansas
4) ISA - St Louis, Missouri
5) USSSA - Brookfield, Wisconsin
6) LVSSA - Las Vegas
7) ISF - Manassas, Virginia

This may change as I have still to play the SSWC in Phoenix and the SSUSA Winter Nationals in Ft. Meyers.
