rumors
have heard some disturbing rumors lately.they have to do with most of the associations trying to do away with the major and major+ divisions.does that mean as AA and AAA teams we will be facing these players and fearing for our lives.no more side by side states to filed teams(100 mile radius only).can any one of the heads of the associations enlighten us on this subject.every thing that is done on bat banning and poor ball quality seems to be intent on driving the better ball players out of the senior game and leave it for the base hitters only. can someone please explain.

It has looked like most Associations want to abandon the Major Plus division. Going back to having just three divisions. That will put a number of the better Senior players without a team. A number of teams will not pick up a top notch area guy and force their team into the then highest division. These players will be like poison. I guess the Association heads are forcing these guys out of Senior softball.
If the top players get forced into AAA division. What pitcher wants to pitch to them.
Do you guys remember when Softball was a great game.

I have heard because one of the summit heads lost to a team who had one exempt player at the major plus level he cried and now they have decided no more exempt players at the major plus level.

What does that mean? All of those major plus players who have been exempt because there are no teams in their region will now have to go back and play AAA or AA softball. I have also heard that the heads are at least fair about it and not forcing these AAA or AA teams to move up just because they have one player who should be playing up.

I also heard that the statement was made that if the major plus players who have been exempt players don't like it they don't have to play. Hmmmm makes me wonder if the associations are not getting a little big for their britches? Makes me ask this question are you really willing to upset most of the senior players because of one guy who got his butt beat on the playing field and now wants to once again change the rules to satisfy his need to win?

If so then all I can say to the AA and AAA teams is don't get mad at the players or the teams when they show up on teams playing at these levels. It is not their fault they just want to play softball.

killabrew and walk like what you have said,i play major but on occasion in my local tourneys have dropped down to play mostly a lowly AA. with that team i will get walk many time during a tourney and even been walk with the bases loaded.it seems this is what the summit heads want . if u do get to hit they will complain about the rockets that will be hit and when someone gets hurt they will blame the player and not the game. the restrictions on hrs now is ridicules, none of the major+ teams should be restricted on how many they hit, thats why they play in the top division.oh well just my opinion but who am i, just joe smuck player.

hey mad dog, you are right. they should use a good ball and let the players play. there is too much whining going on with certain teams not wanting to play other teams. if everyone playes by the same rules, play or quit whining. we are all folling the rules. with a bad ball our division was allowed 9 per game, if a major + team was lucky they hit 2 per game.we could have played in the aa division even though we were a 55 major + team. let us play ball.later,

A year and a half ago I attended the SPA preseason meeting in Marietta, Ga. There were two players that had played Major Plus with Faith the year ago also in attendence. They complained that their only choice was to play the a Major or Major Plus team. If they played with a AA or AAA team the team had to move up to Major in order for them to play. Ridge Hook's answer was that they should have thought of that before they agreed to play with faith.

The World was never ment to be fair. There will always be persons that want to win & care about their 'needs, desires ,' & no one else. Have we SENIORS' forgotten that we play ball 4 fun & to renew old friendships. (GLORY, ENDs WENT THE LAST GAME OF THE DAY IS OVER.) Why, do SENIORS' PLAY BALL?) As we get older, it is the people that knew us @ an earlier age that counts? Fairness! Should we SENIORS' not play hard & after the last game, sIt w/ our friends & rejoice the glory of that day & days went we SENIORS' were young? If, a player is better than we r, should we not wish that player & every other player the best, reguardless? Or, r we going to be small & petty? What happen to SPORTSMENSHIP & wishing that every one plays well? If, a player is in an area that does not have 'quality' players, why, should this person not play? Can we really say, tough & don't play ball because u r better then us?Discrimination? Why? Because someone is better then us. Sports, I thought, was 4 all; & 4 enjoyment, etc.... Went I play, I hope evryone plays well!!

I agree that there is no reason to elimintate Major or Major + teams. I play in Florida and those teams usually play each other on a monthly basis. If a team has a bad month or two they are dropped down a few notches and will play against some upcoming teams.

The pairings are usually pretty fair every month. We are ranked in the lower A bracket and played three teams this month ranked in the top ten. We won two and lost a close game in the latter innings. There were not a lot of homeruns and maybe one or two balls that were hit up the middle that came close to the pitcher.

We have one Major + player but he has been part of our team since January. There are other players on top ten teams who probably should be playing with a Major + team but because of the parity nobody complains.

If you eliminate those higher level teams the existing teams probably will not be able to pick up more than maybe one or two players only because the lower level teams are pretty well set. The reason they stay together is because they have been friends for many years and have been playing together for a long time. Even though we all want to win how many teams go to these tournaments just so that we can go out to dinner together or hang around the pool and have a few beers. Winning is not the only reason we come to play as much as we would all like to win.

If it is not broken why try to fix it?

hi everyone new here,by reading this post i'm inclined to agree with everyone.if someone wants to stack a team let them play at the highest level.if u want to play lower make the teams local type as in maybe a distance radius from the coach. i say lets play ball.
