My kind of people
Jim Tharp(BoazExport) and I held a Firemen's Benefit tournament this weekend in Houston. We were suppose to play at Kipper Mease, Pasadena. During the early morning hours, someone, turned on the sprinklers to all 3 fields and completely flooded them. When players started to arrive, water was still shooting up from the sprinklers. We immediately searched for other places to play. I need to thank Keith Mixon for getting us the field in Baytown so the 70's teams could play. I also need to thank Jerry Fairies, Lenny Yaffie and Robin Wells from Bayland Park for letting us use their two fields. Thanks to Boaz Exports, Team Houston, Texas Thunder, Mission, Rusty Hooks, Christian Brothers Automotive, Oops, Texas Classics, 70's Crackers, Don Turney(his Dallas 70's team. Not sure of his spelling) and Tom Norman's 70's team. We also want to thank Texas Half Century, Keith Parker and Jim Cary, for supporting this torunament and making it a huge success. Believe me when I say Texas Half Century supports senior softball and these two guys are out to prove it. Thanks to all the teams that had to pick up and travel the 45 minutes to another park, then played with the schedule changing due to only 2 fields available. We played much later then anticipated and the guys were just great about it. All the teams showed class with this problem. Thanks to the out of town teams for hanging with us. I had to miss the 70's game due to them playing in another city. A special thanks to Larry Parrack who team is from Corpus Christi. They stayed played great and not once complained. Even with that long drive home after we got done around 9PM. Jim and I can't thank you all enough for hanging with us. Softballers, this shows you the class that is in Senior Softball. Playing with men like this. Thank you all.
