Tournament order...is there one?
Would one or more of you please explain the order (if there really is one) for a team to enter tournaments other that a TOC, which should be the last for the year, imo.
I find that teams SEEM to be allowed to enter ANY tournament, other than a qualifier, into a Championship (national, regional or seasonal) or quote Worlds unquote.
If it is a WORLDS tournament, then why is Canada, the only other country that attends? An ad or word of mouth advertising to invite from abroad, is that real justification for a Worlds tournament?
Is QUALIFYING winning one game in a tournament or just attending it to get into another one without the "Qualifier" title attached to it?
As I see it other than from the business end behind these, it should be; 1. you qualify by attending a qualifier first and winning at least one game. No game won, means you try again to qualify. Once you ”qualify”, that grants you a right to enter 2. a Campionship tournament. Be it regional or state. Then if you happen to WIN one of those TOURNAMENTS, it entitles you to enter 3. a National tournament...or you just wait it through and take your win with your invite to 4. the TOC, for the winners from one of the Championship, National or Seasonal tournaments.
I know I’ll get flack on this, maybe it’s justified, or not, but other than the $$ side, it seems like an orderly fashion to go about it. Downside, it might keep teams from the bigger ones because some do not win game one, and would have to keep trying to qualify. The upside ? it may bring teams to some failed or cancelled tournaments in hopes of qualifying.

Way to go bad-dog. Your 17 message negative post 'losing' streak is intact. You're still a long way from DiMaggio's untouchable 56 in a row, but you have a real chance.

bigdog,
I to have complained about the costs, but take an honest look at the one you mouthed about, the TOC, That tournament is probably the best tournament any team will be able to get into for what they set up for the teams, players visitors. sure the cost may be high but most of that Id say is justified. Don't like it or any other , crap, don't go.
As for other tournaments I'd be one of the first to say their high. Chances are the time frame could be made into a two day instead of the 3 day stretch out. Not sure.
There would be a very good chance that if cut backs were made the overall end result of a lot of tournaments would become "Mom & Pop" tourneys. I see them all over where I'm at.
Read the articles in the newspapers SSUSA puts out, maybe it will explain some of what they do so you have a "inside" look as to what it takes to put one on. Or better yet you try to throw one, It isn't easy, trust me.
The assn's need the revenue to stay competitive between all the others and yet still put on a good tournament, The independents, just try to stay afloat or go under like some have.
Go reminisce, regress and then come back and play a good game.

bigdog,
If you look at the number of assn's involved, the number of tournaments slated for the same weekends, what do you get...decisions, decisions, decisions. Too many spread out all over and grief for the teams ( ie teams lacking for brackets). Just as long as there are multiple choices to make, their is no doubt going to be this problem And it is a valid concern.
I would think that assn leaders that would or do work most effectively DO NOT think 'I', they think 'WE', they think 'team'.
There is on board the best crew for this, lets hope that their conscious is the magnetic compass, but that reason is the chart they follow and do not run aground.
