May 24, 2008 Ken Men's 55 462 posts | What happened to most of the Earth's population, and what caused it, in "The Day of the Triffids"? |
May 25, 2008 2awesom Men's 50 308 posts | i think it had something to do with a bad meteor shower that struck the earth and then the plants (Triffids) took over and ate people, something like that? |
May 25, 2008 Ken Men's 55 462 posts | Close enough. The meteor shower blinded most of the population, and allowed the plants to sneak up on unsuspecting blind people. If you didn't look at the meteor shower, you were ok. |
May 25, 2008 timothystone 4 posts | I play on the So Cal Cruisers 60's team. My Grandfather played "Doc Adams" on Gunsmoke from 1955-1975. What was Doc's first name and who played the town Blacksmith? See you at the field! |
May 25, 2008 Ken Men's 55 462 posts | Tim, the 1 and only requirement for posing a question is that you have to answer the current question correctly, so Awesome is up. By the way, I'm a good friend of your manager, Phil Cook, and I hope you come back to the site and answer the next question, 'cause I'd like to hear more about your uncle. |
May 26, 2008 2awesom Men's 50 308 posts | I don't know the answer to Tim's question, but if Tim would come back on here and let us know, that would be great. Anyway, my question is In the movie Dumb & Dumber Our heroes Jim Carrey & Jeff Daniels are on their way to Colorado to return a brief case, on the way they stop at a Diner and Jeff Daniels throws a salt shaker which hits a Big RedNeck Guy by the name of SEA-BASS. SEA-BASS threatens Jeff Daniels & Spits on his Burger, SEA-BASS is wearing a baseball style cap which contains three lines on the front, what does the hat say? |
May 26, 2008 timothystone 4 posts | Sorry, I did not know rules, but I do now! The answer to the Gunsmoke question...Doc Adams first name is "Galen" and the actor who played the town Blacksmith for 3 seasons was Burt Reynolds. |
May 26, 2008 Dbax Men's 65 2100 posts | 2awesome, great question. I have no idea. Timothy, that's cool. Wasn't his first name Milburn? |

May 27, 2008 2awesom Men's 50 308 posts | It is a tough question, before giving the answer how about a hint - It has something to do with Women |
May 27, 2008 timothystone 4 posts | You're right. Milburn Stone was my Mother's Father. My full name is Timothy Stone Gleason (no relationship to Jackie ) He was a great Grandfather and person. I miss him everyday, but I still get to see the Gunsmoke reruns on TV Land. I go by Timothy Stone because that's what my wife calls me. If I run into you at one of the tournamnents, please say HI. |
May 28, 2008 2awesom Men's 50 308 posts | OK that was a tough one you would almost have to watch the movie to see what the hat says- anyway it says Wine'em Dine'em 69'em next question In the early 60's B/W movie The Train starring Burt Lancaster What is contained on the Train that neither the Allies or German's want to see get damaged or destroyed? |

June 3, 2008 Sisavic 190 posts | Where was most of "A Bronx Tale" filmed? The film was directed by Robert DeNiro and written by Palminteri. Extra-Extra credit: One of rhe best lines was spoken by the DeNiro character's son (you'd relate to the line better if you were Italian). |
June 3, 2008 Sisavic 190 posts | Sorry, but I didn't compete my question. Disregard previous post Where was most of "A Bronx Tale" filmed? The film was directed by Robert DeNiro and written by Palminteri. Extra credit: One of rhe best lines was spoken by the DeNiro character's son (you'd relate to the line better if you were Italian). What did he say after a first kiss from his new girlfriend? Extra-Extra-Extra credit: In the film, how could a guy tell if his date liked him? |
June 6, 2008 Sisavic 190 posts | It's 3 days and I ought to post a hint, but I can't think of one that isn't obvious. Maybe because it's too personal or too local. I grew up in the neighborhood where the A Bronx Tale was filmed - Astoria, Queens. It was chosen because the streets today look exactly like the streets of the 50s and 60s (except street signs). My school/church/playground is constantly in the background - what a kick. Some scenes were filmed in Brooklyn. The line spoken by DeNiros' character's son: He's about 15-16 and in love for the first time with a black girl from the "projects" (this would never really happen in my neighborhood). He kisses on the lips for the first time, steps back stunned and in awe and says "Do you make sauce? In his world, all he needed was a kisser like her and italian sauce. Finally, if, after the guy opens the passenger side door for a date the first time, she reaches over to unlock the driver's side door, she liked him. Another trivia item: During the openning scene, the boys are playing Johnny-ride-a-pony. Ever hear of it? See next post for a more simple trivia question and thanks for listening to my reminiscing. |
June 6, 2008 Sisavic 190 posts | Name the only actor had TOP billing for 3 "Best Movie" Academy Awards. Extra Credit: Name the films |
June 6, 2008 Dbax Men's 65 2100 posts | Great stuff on A Bronx Tale. I love that movie. For your next question, I will guess Tom Hanks. |
June 6, 2008 Sisavic 190 posts | Dbax, Not Hanks. |
June 6, 2008 Ken Men's 55 462 posts | How about Dustin Hoffman? ( Kramer vs.Kramer, Rainman, Midnight Cowboy) |
June 6, 2008 Sisavic 190 posts | Ken, Yup, Dustin is the man. He won best actor for Kramer v Kramer and Rain Man, but lost in 1969 to the Duke in True Grit. You are up! |
