Dec. 4, 2003 azjuan 7 posts | Playing with bats banned by ASA Our local league is reviewing it's policy on bats banned by ASA. We are considering letting our players play with any bat, banned or not. We sent an email to Margaret Schubkegel Amateur Sports Division Bollinger, Inc. MargaretS@BollingerInsurance.com Tel: 800-350-8005, ext. 1236. Fax: 973-921-2876 Below is our question and the answer we got from Bollinger. Are there any other local leagues that are dealing with this issue, and if so what are your conclusions. My Question was: If a local league that has your insurance and is a registered ASA league allows bats to be used that have been banned and are not on the approved list, does it effect their liability coverage?. It is presently our local leagues position that our members follow the ASA rules on approved bats and we do not allow them to be used if they are banned, even though we are not playing in Championship games. Reply From Bolllinger If leagues are using banned bats it does NOT affect ASA's insurance coverage in any ways which includes team accident and liability coverages, fieldowners liability coverage and umpire liability and accident coverages. And yes, the rule only applies to ASA Championship Play. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks. Margaret Schubkegel Amateur Sports Division Bollinger, Inc. Dec. 5, 2003 Coach Men's 80 15 posts | That was an interesting answer. I would have thought they would have answered the other way. |
Dec. 8, 2003 red 28 posts | Our league has a wide range of ages so we did ban several hot bats. I think in our case it was a good idea. And we had no complaints. We do play in a once a month tourney in a nearby city and we can use anything. |
