Ken Maas: A sad day for our softball community to lose this great man. We were there with him just 1 month ago in Des Moines and it is just hard to believe he is gone. His message was that he worked for us players and did an great job in communicating to us and seeing what he could do for us to make his event the best. He went from a 44 core 375 ball to a 44 core 525 ball upon my suggestion this year which proved that he was open to the players. Thanks to Ken Maas and his wife Shirley for a great tournament this year from the entire Kelly's Sports 50 + softball team.

Ken Maas was indeed a "true gentleman" What a sad day for Senior Softball! He supported the Women's Program 100% -- which the women fully appreciated! My prayers and thoughts go out to the family! Ken is now looking down on all of us from Softball Heaven!

Ken Maas was to Senior Softball as Henry Ford was to the automobile. No matter how busy of a schedule that he and his wife had, they always had to time to talk with you about softball. His tournaments were always well run and the worlds were presented in a format that truly the best teams were to win. Only our obsession to win created a mockery of his events by "sandbagging" to move down a division or two and having the destinctions of winning an award that we truly knew was underserving.

I think that there would be no better tribute to Ken Mass then to have an annual memorial tournament in his name and for all of us to take the time and effort to load up this message boards with salutations for his wife and family to see how great of a human being this man was; not only as a softball mentor but as a great human being. I know I will miss him dearly. May God Bless him and his wonderful family. On behalf of the entire Silver Legends team..........Larry.

On behalf of the entire Thermco/CT Sportsplex team, please Shirley, accept our condolences for your personnal loss. Ken was a true senior softball ambassadore. He always made himself available to speak with and truley listened to what the players and managers had to say. As a team we played in 2 of his world championships and found the unique format and philosopy of his championships something that we enjoyed participating in. Shirley, our thoughts and prayers are with you, we all will miss this great man. Thermco/CT Sportsplex 50 major +

I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of Ken Maas. I always felt good after a conversation with Ken and/or Shirley. Whether it be about membership applications or the ice on the roof, it was always great talking with them. My thoughts and prayers are with Shirley and her family. Jill from the Mavericks.

Our Cruisers team from Michigan would like to express our thoughts for Ken and his family. We like to think of Ken as the "Godfather of Senior Softball". He was the one who started Senior Softball and helped develop it to the level that it is today. He liked clean and fair play and did not like it when teams played down only to win. I served on his committees back in the 80's when his dream of helping seniors began. I know his goal was to find a avenue to help people like us to have fun and enjoy life.
We will miss you Ken.
