We placed 4th out of 11 teams in the 40+ SPA Nationals. All of us considered the tournament a success especially since we were the only totally 50+ team there. I bet we were the only team with players over 55!
There were a couple of tough 40+ teams there.
Frank had a great tournament, 19 for 21 with 12 hrs!
The hr rule was 3 and one up. Other differences were no mat, no safety plate or first base and only one courtesy runner per inning. It was great hitting the 47/525 ball!
Good luck in Birmingham, you should do well!

BruceinGa, Good job! I'm sure you did considerable damage with the stick yourself! Who is this Frank fellow? Is he from GA of FL? In any event, fantastic hitting! 12 long balls is great in any tournament! What bats were primarily being used? I've got to get something for the Baton Rouge "Bon Temps" tournament. Are y'all going to be there? I'll be playing 55+ with Mission Softball - they are moving up an age-group next year. LL

Larry, Frank played outfield withTristate 50+ major this year. He was hitting a 137 PST but it only lasted 3 or 4 games till it split.
I was surprised that a lot of players were using the Crush. Beyond that I saw some PST's, Techzilla, a couple of Rages, and a few Demarini's. Oh yea, one team must have been sponsored by Mizuno as they had 6 or 7 Fury's.
We aren't talking much about Baton Rouge but are considering Ft Myers. I'm dropping back to 50+ and playing with a combination of JAH Masters and Tristate.
Good luck with Mission, they should give Country Wide some good competition!

BruceinGa-I always enjoy playing against friends. I have played with a number of the guys on Countrywide over the years and consider them friends. Especially Clatta since his wife, Bonnie and my wife, Pam are good friends, too. That's one of the important things to me at this stage of my life is the enjoyment of the cameraderie with the players on my team and others.

Have a great winter season and see you on the diamond! LL
