Phil Cook, mgrcoach of So. Cal. Cruisers is seriously ill, ...short version.
Phil suffered a massive heart attack this week.
He may undergo surgerytoday if he is stable enough.
I played for him and he is one of the good guys as is his wife Pat.
Please keep them in your prayers.
Thanks

Phil's a great guy and the first guy I played for in Senior Softball. I plan on stopping by his hosp. room next week after his procedure. I hope all goes well for him.

Complete Update as sent:
Phil is doing well. Much better than could be expected. The doctors don't really know why he isn't dead. He is facing several surgeries because his heart is in such poor shape. He needs to have two heart values repaired or replaced. He also needs several stints inserted. The doctors say that when all is done, he should be a new man. They are looking to have the first surgery on Tuesday or Wednesday. I will try to get additional information and let you know if and when he can receive visitors. Please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested.
Thanks,
Rick

Ken,
I think Rick Watson had it at that time. He is one of many I keep in touch with in So Cal.

Fellow Players,

Sad news gentlemen. It saddens me to have to bring you this news. After 8 hours of open heart surgery, Phil Cook passed away today. He was truly a good guy and will be missed. My sympathy goes out to his wife and family. I last saw him several weeks ago as he drove by the softball fields to say hi and to look for some players for a tournament. He will be missed by all that knew him.

It is always a sad day when we lose one of our softball brethren. Although I did not personally know Phil Cook, I can tell from what I've read that he was loved and respected by all who knew him. My heartfelt condolonces go out to his wife, family and friends. Larry Lopez

I had the privilege to play with Phil and the SC Cruisers for the past 3 seasons. There is not another person I have met in my softball life quite like Phil. We often would kid with one another about what "Mom" said about him and what "Mom" said about me. All of it centered around who "Mom" loved best, Since we looked alike and people thought we were brothers, usually resulting in some made-up delimma during our childhood It's like losing a true family member. Our prayers go out to Phil and the family. Heaven has gotten a truly funny guy. We have lost a great friend and coach!

So sorry to hear Phil passed on. Only played 1 tournament with him in Brentwood. In that short period of time he showed me great friendship and was a great pleasure to have known him. Peace be with him and my condolences to the cook family. From a friend down south.
