Hi How many Major Plus Teams usually attend this Tournament? Just looking for a rough idea. My
Pennsylvania Team may be interested in attending.
We just got moved to Major Plus. Thanks!

Probably none. Good luck trying to find teams to play unless they combine Major and Major-plus.

2awesom, Fact is several teams attend the SPA Major Plus tournament. This year there were 6 teams in the 50 M+, 5 in the 55 M+ and 6 in the 60 M+. Admittedly, there are more in the other classes; however, the SPA (and SS-USA) consistently draw more of the Major + teams than any other associations. We (Boaz/ASI 60 M+) have played in more than one tournament with only one other team. We try to get together with the other 60 M+ teams and lay out a prospective schedule so we can see who is planning to attend which tournaments. Hope this helps. LL

The Florida/Georgia Merchants (Raptors) will be there playing 60 M+.
Jawood, in 8 years I've never played in SPA Nationals where 50 or 55 M+ has been combined with M.

Bruce,
Turn Two is planning on going as long as some of the other teams will be attending.
Thanks,
Donnie
Larry,
Will Boaz be attending the SPA?

Thanks. Must be more Major+ teams in the east. With no money to travel and about 4 teams out west it's going to be tough to play this year.

Donnie, Boaz/ASI has not yet come up with a travel plan for 2009; however, I will be recommending the SPA, SS-USA, LVSSA and SSWS. We will probably return to the Rock-n-Reno tournament in late May. LL

Those are the same recommendations that will be made to GSF. My only disappointment being the timing of the SPA event. Haven't the M+ teams played in July enough? Wasn't there supposed to be some reciprocity? At least there as I was told.
Theoretically, if they use the same Baden ball, we can look forward to the same stifling heat/humidity with very few HRs. I can live with the latter but the weather appears to be an issue.
Also, because it's in July, it interferes with family vacations.
With all of this in mind, it makes it a harder sale for me (to my team).

Corrected National Tournament Dates:

* Men's 65+ Major Plus, Major, AAA, & AA has been changed to September 10th - 13th, 2009.
* Men's 50+ AAA & AA has been changed
to September 17th - 20th, 2009.

Above you will find new dates for the 2009 Men's 65+ & 50+ National Championships in Dalton, Georgia.

These changes have been made due to a conflict of playing dates with another senior association. SPA has worked diligently over the past 10 years to avoid any scheduling conflicts with other senior softball association National or World tournaments. Although we announced our schedule two (2) months ago after many hours of deliberation, we just learned that another organization has placed their dates on top of ours. It was not done deliberately, however such a conflict will hurt both tournaments. We have discussed at length the pros and cons of moving the dates, however, SPA does not want teams to be forced into making this type of tough decision. No one wins in the end if we have the same date. We apologize for the inconvenience that your team may incur with this change, however, it is only January and we believe that our teams can still make changes accordingly. If you have any questions please call our office.

Thank you for playing SPA,

Sincerely,
Ridge Hooks, Executive Director

Hey Mike Sisavic! You’re a NorthWest guy. Go to bashbro1’s assembly of popular mainstay tourneys just for PNW region. The SPA links are on the listing of some 35 tournaments at this point in time.

MAJOR PLUS VS MAJORS IN TOURNEYS------if these 2 groups play each other, any objections from major plus in giving runs 5 or 7 , as long as 7 innings are played. the major home run rule would apply. after home runs are maxed out, go to one up or outs ? your thoughts. i play 65 major.

I received an e-mail frm Ridge Hooks (I'm on SPA's distribution list) a few days ago with the revised dates for 65 major plus, major, AAA, and AA. I cut and past his e-mail in my message above. The correct dates for the 65 tournament are September 10 through 13.
