Cutting the ball
Hi:

I have a question regarding cutting the ball. I am a dead pull hitter who hits a lot of humpies but do hit it out when I catch it good on the bottom half of the ball. Most of the balls I hit long are hooked a bit and I was just wondering if hook spin would work on the new ball they are using at the TOC. Is cutting the ball like a power fade in golf?

Thank You:
James

JAMES LG: A hook, generally happens when one is out in from of the ball.
A slice, generally is caused by a late swing; a swing inside out; or a bat that has flex in that bats handle.

Cutting the ball, means that the batter hits the bottom half / quarter of a ball. This will cause back spin. Back spin, will cause the ball to rise.

Top spin, hitting the top half of a ball, caused a ball to dive, downward, into the ground.

Bats that have Flex, in the handle, tend to cause a slice. A bat with Flex, is made for smaller or weaker players.
