ROCK N RENO CUP- QUESTION
question for the teams that normally fly for this tourney, is there any reasonably priced airline and hotels that cater to senior softball teams? we are seriously considering attending this year, looks like a lot of teams show up,and great competition. would appreciate any input, thanks. frank a texas legends 65's

The best price for most airlines is Southwest. Check it out and you will see www.southwestairlines.com.

Frank, I strongly recommend this tournament! It's a great early-season test to see how a team stands versus the best of the West Coast. We (Boaz) have played in it the last 2 years and have not done well. But we know afterwards what we need to address for the rest of the season and the Nationals. Hopefully, I'll run into you at Pasadena, TX on February 21. I'm the Manager for the Boaz team.

DOUBLE 10- i am trying to push the guys to attend this tournament. looking at some of the previous attendees in the 65 major group, it appears it could be a blast to go there. i am going to push the boys to start saving therir money, maybe skip a couple of other qualifiers to be able to attend . as far as pasadena,tx. we are not going as the texas legends 65's, we are playing 60' AAA, as the mongrels, most of the legend guys will be there, including, jim, joe harris, tinnelli, ray k.. we are looking forward to kicking off the season. see ya down there. frank a

Andy's right, from SoCal Southwest's the best.
This is a great tourney. We stay at the Sands Hotel casino
in downtown. Maybe $60 a night for a double, big rooms,
good pool area. Walking distance to all the bigger casinos.
If you play at the turf complex, it's a real treat. Other fields
around town and in Carson City(30 minutes south) are
decent. Weather is a plus that time of year 70/75. I
would encourage you and the East coast teams to go
you won't be disappointed. It's our favorite tourney.

DUKE, DOUBLE 10,OTE24- i appreciate your responses, some of the guys on the team feel it's to early to think about this may tournament. based on the number of teams that normally go, hotel space could be at a premium, especially the more reasonbly priced ones. again, thanks for your input. PS: most of the players on the team have never been there before,so they have no idea what to expect.

armiho211 The scrap iron 65,s will be in Reno. It is usually our first tournament of the year as we live in WINTER. Most of team is Colorado guys and I am in Cheyenne Wyo. You will truly enjoy this tournament, and the new fields in Sparks are fantastic.
Room rates are reasonable and food great. It is one of the biggest tournaments of the year however last year there were only two 65 major teams. I th;ink there will be a lot more this year now that the word is out on the new fields and how great they are. Talk them into it Frank they will love it. We stay at the Sands also ;and the rates are only $45 during the week and $60 I believe on the seekend. Our bracket starts on Tues. so you would have the cheaper rates. They do fill up th;ough so you better get your reseverations in. Phone number is 775-348-2242, ask for Leslie and she will take care of you. Hope to see you all there Wyo 22

WYO22- if only two teams showed up last year in the 65 major division, did they integrate major plus and major into one group ? how did the director handle this ? i hope we can get enough guys to commit.

Hi Frank As I remember we played 3 round robin games with the 65 AAA,s and then we played the Bald Eagles the best two out of three for the championship. We won but by one run each game and in the bottom of the seventh. Great games. Once again when you play on that new facility you will want to return whenever you can cause it is beautiful. I hope we get some other 65 majors to enter online where they may be going this year. We will be in Reno regardless of who comes. Wyo 22

The Western Village in Sparks offers the cheapest rooms we have ever found. They have smoking starting at about $30. Good food, smaller crowds, great lake next to motel. About 5 minutes from downtown casinos.

This is always the biggest tourn. of the yr. Winning this almost means as much as winning a TOC because of the # of teams competing.
