A thought for the guys......
who apparently need to hit the ball hard and far to enjoy softball (even if it is largely due to someone else's R & D), and for whom the integrity of the game doesn't appear to mean much.

Just schedule a bunch of hitting contests to satisfy them, and for those who play the game for the competition (no less than Bill Russell has said "the only statistic that means anything is the final score) let's play the games the way they were designed to be.

The one you use to dunk, and then go home and brag to the grandkids about what you "accomplished"?

How many of you guys would quit the game if it was mandated that all equipment must be wood bats and kapok balls?

I'm glad to see you started your own thread.
Too bad it's the same nonsense you've been spewing about R&D. Many of us would continue to play the game with wood bats and so so balls if it was the only game in town. However it's not. We senior have a choice as to the association we participate. The league I play in has no bat restriction or ball issues. Why would I want restrictions when I play tourney ball.
Bottom line this line of thinking is consistent with a Rec player mentality. It’s nice and safe and the challenge is different as are the accomplishment. I've never dunked a basketball or really want to. So using a trampoline has no bearing to the conversations on this board. I could guess when you and your buddies get together to play ball you survey their equipment to ensure R&D won't have an effect on the out come. You use Bill Russell as an example of integrity. In his day he danced with the tool gifted to him. 40+ years later an individual has options as to developing their skills and bring the tools allowed by the game. After reading some of your post Mr. Russell would probably slap the mess out of your mouth and tell you not to bring him up in your conversations. Your not in the game just a curb setter that been rejected and now complains about the game. On the west coast we man up and play ball you whine and took you ball and bat home which is fine, but please stop bagging us that continue to play.

The more he wrote...the more came to light

And it all came to pass.....the posters were right :-)

Just a quick 2 cents. I don't like mandatory equipment. Leave the game alone. When I can't pitch anymore, I am moving to the outfield(those who know me can appreciate this one) lmao.
