Anyone have a DUD Miken U2?
I bought a used U2 from Kelley's two months ago and have used in two or three games. I'm having a tough time hitting the sweetspot. I am thinking the ss is very small maybe because the bat hasen't been broken in. The U2 that I had this spring and summer hit great so I'm wondering if I could have one with thicker than normal walls. My old U2 was a 29oz and this one is a 30oz. I was used to using a 30oz Velocite and hit it well so I don't think it is because of the extra oz.
At bp two days ago I couldn't come close to hitting the ball to the 300' fence so my bp partner offered to let me use his 29. I hit the next pitch went about 350'.
Yesterday I hit about 100 balls off my tee, thinking this might loosen the bat up. I was consistantly hitting the fence on one hop and hit one out.
Has anyone esle found their U2 hits like a log?

bruce, i purchased a used u-2 from kelley's also, i used it in las las vegas in early oct, it was pretty good, i hit only one HR (not a power man) over 300ft, 4-5 almost to the fence. but line drives all over the place. it appears that the graphics were repainted, maybe that affected yours? too thick? maybe you got a dud! sell it!!!

I have traded it for a 28 oz U2. Maybe it will be better.

Hittman,

What happened with going to Vegas with the Texas Tornado? We had a great time, but sure could have used another stick.

Bruce,

Does hitting off the tee help you in the off season? If so, do you have specific things you work on? With the season being over around here, I need something besides the gym to keep the juices flowing through the off-season.

TexasTrans, I try to concentrate on hitting the sweet spot and hitting the ball out in front of the plate. Other guys do situational drills, hitting opposite field and place hitting, I don't.
It also toughens my hands, enabling me to hit more when taking bp.
I also think it is a good way to compare different bats.
You may want to check out MohrSoftball.com. Jim Ramsey has quite a few drills associated with hitting off a tee.
