Altered or illegal bats
It is obvious in our local league that requires an ASA bat standard that illegal and/or altered bats are starting to be used. I have asked our city softball coordinator what to do to protect the integrity of our league and to develop a policy and procedure to deal with this problem.

He then asked me for my ideas and was curious what the cost would be to test a bat. In this regard is anyone familiar enough with the testing to give me the name of a lab and the cost of testing a bat? Also is the bat damaged by the testing?

Do any players know of an effective policy and procedure for dealing with a protest? The cost of protesting? Who is responsible for the testing cost if the bat is confirmed to be illegal? What the cost of testing equipment would be if a park district purchased the equipment? What protest fee neds to be tendered by the team challenging a bat? Any other thoughts or considerations that players could tender would be appreciated.

bob from what i understand the test is a basic compression test of the bat.not sure what it would cost per bat, but hear that the machine can be bought for a couple of K,i think.you might look into a bats supplied by the league, get 3-5 bats for each field in diff weights, that would do away with the illegal ones.

I gathered that later, just figured most don't like to publish much about themselves or even where they are. I put it the info to find not to hide. No problem though.
Shoot me a note I have an idea\info for you.
