Crabtown Classic play in games
My team is playing next weekend in Glen Burnie in 50 AAA which has 7 teams also the 50 majors have 8 teams. Does anyone know why the play in games are set up as cross over games with all AAA teams playing two games against Major teams? With 8 teams in one bracket and 7 teams in the other this doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

So I see a lot of people have looked at this I'm still wondering am I the only one that thinks this is a strange format for the play in games?

My team is one of the Major teams and we play our first game vs a AAA team but the second game is vs a Major team.

I guess they just want to mix it up a little, hey you never know you may come
out of those two games 2-0.

Good Luck in Glen Burnie

The problem i see with cross-over play is that the SSUSA is using these preliminary games to evaulate your team. As a brand new 50 AAA last year, we had to face Major teams in preliminaries in 2 tournaments during the year and then 2 major teams at the TOC in January. We won a couple (with the extra 5 runs) and lost a couple by close scores. what does that mean? Did the Major team lay down because it was just warm up games or did we out play them? every team takes preliminaries differently. Because we had a 2-2 record against Major teams, we were moved up to Majors for 2009. Not right in my mind.

That might be the case who knows, I don't mind playing against the major teams if they are short on teams for the tournament but thats not the case here. In this tournament with 8 teams in the 50 majors they have very little to play for in the two play in games as none of them can get a bye anyway so who knows how hard they will try. Also the TD has posted that the major teams will be the home team in all cross over games which my guess is because he expects them to win most of these games which should save him some time by not having to play the bottom of the last inning in most games.Well good luck to everyone playing this weekend.
