You make the call !!!!!!!! Help please.
Local league has a rule that all players must play complete game on offense and 5 innings on defense. Current local rule has no penalty called out. After last game the opposing manager protests the game for players only playing four innings on defense. No score book was kept by either team but protested manager states that he thought that two players had only played four innings due to intense game that went 8 innings. Chief umpire gets all info and rules in favor of protest forfieting the game. I thought all protests had to be made before final out unless protest was about the final out/play. Doesn't seem right to forfiet game when no penalty is called out in the rule. Rule is currently being ammended to include penalty. Is the protest legal since game was over when protest was made to homeplate umpire and he had left the field of play. Discussions had occurred earlier but only discussions no protest.
Is this a legal protest???????
If so what should the ruling have been?????
I'll bet Ump in North Ga knows the answer. How about it Jesse????????

Thanks for your help.

Don't believe its a valid protest. Be interested in hearing from a Professional Umpire though. Read SSUSA 2009 rule book. Page 12 1.53 A. Think that clears it up.

WELL A FEW THINGS HAVE TO BE SET IN STONE AND NOT KNOWING WHAT THEY ARE THATS MY OUT INCASE I'M WRONG ....

1. LEAGUE RULES ALWAYS OVER RULE THE RULE BOOK AND SINCE NOTHING IN RULE BOOK ON PLAYING AMOUNT THATS A NO BRAINER

2. YOU SAID THAT THERE WERE NO SCORE BOOKS FOR EITHER BENCH BUT WAS THERE ONE BY THE PARK ... IF SO THAT IS THE OFFICAL BOOK AND ITS EASY TO PROVE IF THE SUBS WERE REPORTED AS REQUIRED BY THE LEAGUE RULE

3. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT ALL PROTESTS ARE TO BE MADE BY THE LAST OUT EXCEPT IN PROTEST OF ROSTER ... AND MANY LEAGUES ALLOW FOR THAT TO BE DONE UP TO 24 HOUR AFTER THE GAME HAS ENDED

4. YOUR RIGHT IF THERE IS NOT PENELTY FOR THE ACTION THEN ITS A MOOT POINT ... SOUNDS MORE TO ME THAT ITS A GENTLEMENS RULE

5. IF THERE IS NO SCORE KEEPER OF ANY KIND GAME STANDS AS PLAYED IN MY BOOK
