Player Changing Teams
SS-USA Staff Question: Here is the situation. A new team is forming to move to the next higher age division. However, the new team has not yet registered with the SS-USA and may or may not decide to play in the Winter Nationals in Ft, Myers. If the new team decides not to go the the Winter Nationals, can a player who will be on the new team's roster during the 2010 season play with another team in the Winter National without jeopardizing his eligibility to play for the new team during the 2010 season.

Please address the specific actions that the player/manager(s) must follow so as not to create any non-eligibility issues.

Thank you.

I'd say the player could play with the other team if the new team does not go to Winter Nationals. He would need to get a release from the Team he plays with though, prior to playing with the
New Team.

New year starts in Nov (Winter Worlds in Vegas ) and I believe the first one in your area is in Menifee. But forget date. If you play there or either, your stuck or have to use the one release your allowed to change.

In my opinion you can play in the winternationals and then change teams after January. If you play in the winternationals and then play with them again in the following year then you need to you the drop forms.
Just to be sure you should contact the association and ask them.
Is that Dacula,Georgia?

Bruce,
If you are referring to my last post here, no Manifee, Ca. Near Anaheim & Mickey Mouse.
It's daylight, get back inside.

I was refering to the poster, DaculaDave. There's a community called Dacula about 40 miles from me.
I haven't been to Disneyland since 1957.
It's dusk here, can I go outside now? ;)

Close enough, but you might want to leave the cape in the box, or be though of as a caped crusader.

I appreciate all of your inputs regarding a player changing teams. And yes Bruce, it is Dacula, GA. Actually, we've met before either at Tolleson (I played there with the Golden Oldies a few years ago before moving to The Villages, FL)or at a tournament venue, maybe Pensacola. I played and still do play with Truman's Old South team.

Dave, I figured there couldn't be two Daculas in the US.
Did you know that Carl Roberts moved the The Villages a couple of months ago?

I sure do Bruce. We are playing on the same Rec League team this season (the name of the team is The Crush). Both the name and the orange shirts are pretty impressive.:)

He loves in here in Softball Heaven as I know you would too. Nothing like the lack of teams/travel/field location hassles of metro Atlanta. We have two four 300' field complexes just in The Villages. You need to stop by if you go to the Winter Nationals in Ft. Myers in November. We are only about six miles east of I-75.

Carl and I just exchanged emails. He told me who you are. I remember now.
We might stop on the way to the winternationals.
It sounds like that might be softball heaven!!
