So as not to hijack someone's thread, I'll ask my question here.
About 1993 we took a team to Trion, Ga to play a team made up mostly of Regal Rifles players. Did you play in that game? I found out later that our coach had mega bucks bet on the outcome. We did win, best I remember the score was something like 32-16.
As for balls used 30 years ago, I remember Red Dots (mentioned by someone else) and T4000's. When we did use SB12 we were able to throw in a new ball anytime.

Bruce , no I was not playing at that time with Riegel but have played against them many time. Back when Whitey Tucker played with them and that was in the mid to late 70s when you got 2 new SB12s a game and when those went out of play the umpire went to his bag and brought out the sure enough old ones. We played them in Greenwood SC one year and beat them in 5 innings only to come to Dalton for the state at the old Shaw park and after we lost the first game on Friday night to Galaxy Carpet came all the way back to meet the Rifles and they beat our brakes of 18-3. But I will say with all the partying we did on Friday and Saturday night we only had 1 good game in us on Sunday and we got by the CWS Reds out of the Macon area. That baseball field at Shaw was a booger to hit it out of but the show field at that park was a lot of fun.

I bet you played some or at least have heard of BIG DADDY Porky Bagwell,
Dam that is when it was fun

Small world, the coach was Whitey Tucker! I first met Porky when we played against him in a league game at Kenworth. I hit two hrs against him and he aske me to play with them. I played for him on Jim Ellis VW, Ideal Enterprises and a couple of other teams. He doesn't play ball anymore and am told he lives in Dalton.

You might remember RT McMahan, he plays with Kittrell's (55), Kayson's (50) and on our league team.
Email me at b_fairchild@hotmail.com if you want to divulge your name.
One more thing, one of the Fletcher brothers is now playing senior ball.

Hi Bruce and Garocket. I'm Jodi Bagwell daughter of Porky Bagwell. I'm completely devastated by the news I received yesterday about my dad. I was wondering if you have any photos or stories you could share about him? My email is jodi_bagwell@yahoo.com if you want to share anything. I will post funeral information when I have it. I grew up with the softball tales my daddy would tell me and cannot believe I'll never hear another one in his voice, but I would love to hear any that you would be willing to tell me. Thank you so much for your time,
Jodi Bagwell

Well good for y'all. I had to give it up in 95. I can't hardly get going in the mornings. I sure do miss it though. I sure have alot of great memories playing with "Chop".
