Dave, The Las Vegas WinterNationals is the following week; any idea of when the field assignments for the various age groups will be posted so we can make reservations? Also, do you have a count of teams by age group and division yet? Thanks.

THREE-GAME-GUARANTEE BRACKET FORMATS • We have made a subtle change in the Bracket Theory for Three-Game-Guarantee ("3GG") brackets employed in SSUSA administered events. The change affects the "Elimination Bracket" portion of the tournament and is designed to cure an inherent unfairness and be more consistent in the application of the 3GG.

In any 3GG bracket having "Byes" for higher seeds, the schedule theory procedure is to guarantee a third game for any "Bye" team that LOSES it's first game. However, if the "Bye" team wins their first game, the team they defeated was, in effect, given a FOUR-Game-Guarantee. This provision too often created an unintended disadvantage for OTHER teams in the Elimination Bracket.

Beginning with the 2009 SSUSA Winter Nationals and Winter Worlds, there will be "If Needed" games in the Elimination Brackets to prevent the unintended elimination of a team playing it's third game by a team playing it's fourth game after having lost two of its first three. We have clearly marked these "If Needed" games where appropriate. If the noted game does NOT occur, the 'other' team who would have been the opponent simply slides over to the next round of the Elimination Bracket.

Managers should pay close attention to the Bracket Boards, and consult with the Tournament or Field Directors regularly, until this concept becomes familiar. The most common result to be alert for is that an "If Needed" game that is NOT played, MAY accelerate the game time (earlier) of the subsequent game in the Elimination Bracket.

This bracket theory change is in the interest of more fair competition and placing all teams that find themselves in the Elimination Bracket on equal footing. (Of course, for those teams who never find themselves in the Elimination Bracket, the change will go un-noticed!)

SESSION #2 REVISIONS were required to remove a team from the Women's Division that is actually playing in Las Vegas and not in Ft. Myers ... Revisions are only at the Cape Coral Sports Complex and affect:

Women's 50's, 55's and 60's - Removed one 55+ team, restructured Round Robin Game game sequencing and altered bracket times and fields for all three of these divisions ... Women's 65+ Division remains UNCHANGED ...
Men's 50/55-AA Division - Changed Round Robin Seeding games for SATURDAY only ... Nominal bracket changes for Men's 50-AA ... Men's 55-AA Bracket remains UNCHANGED

The affected schedules have been re-posted here with a revision date of 11/05/2009 ... The Participating Team List and Master Games anf Fields Grid have also been revised and posted accordingly ...

We apologize for any inconvenience ... Good luck to all!

Kenny ... Sometime this week ... No firm commitment date ... The tournament has simply exploded, even more so than the Winter Nationals ... The current team count (156) is 25 teams over the event record set just last year ... Field procurement/allocation issues are still being resolved ... DAVE
