2010 JUNE BUCKEYE CLASSIC TOURNAMENT
Just a heads-up when you start determining your 2010 Tournament Schedule the dates for the NINTH ANNUAL Buckeye Classic SSUSA Qualifier are:
JUNE 15-20 in BARBERTON (Akron) OHIO.
Tournament is for AA and AAA teams only in the 60's, 65's and 70's age groups. We also plan on adding 75's this year if there are at least FOUR interested teams.

Last year TEN 70's in the AAA partcipated (Back Office (Mass), Peachtree (Pa), Akron, Columbus, CFI (Mich), Virginians (Va), Dorchester (Canada), Ontario Elder Dogs (Canada), W Tailgaterz (Mich) and North Coast).

NINE 65's were entered (Silver Masters (Ohio), Brantford (Canada), Dayton (Ohio), Kasier Permanente (Ohio), Michigan Spirit, Olde D's (Michigan,),Mississauga Legends (Canada), COSSA (Ohio) and Raymond James (Ind).

The 65's were Silverado's (Ohio), Brantford (Canada), Royal Rebounders (Canada), Mike Pruitt (Ohio), Rochester Classics (NY), ESCM Properties (Ohio).

We will be sending out additional info on the BUCKEYE CLASSIC periodically. If you are interested in receiving info on the tournament, send a request to hockepuck@aol.com (Att: Buckeye Classic)and you will be added to our mailing list.

Should have said Ten 70's teams in the AA/AAA Divisions (Five in each bracket) and Nine teams in the AA/AA Divisions (Five in AAA and Four in AA).

Sorry about that.

Shellbyville Spa Tournament..just talked to DUANE and he asked if he could hitchhike on the 2010 BUCKEYE CLASSIC Info. The SHELLBYVILLE TOURNAMENT, one of the best on the SPA circuit, will be AUGUST 4 (Wed) - 8 (Sunday). DUANE will be getting the info to the SPA TOURNEY site in the next few days.

To answer a couple of questions I have been asked;
Yes - it is a double-elimination tournament
Yes - The AA's and AAA's will be in separate brackets.
Yes - A AA winner and ruuner-up and a AAA winner and runner-up
Hope that answers that question.

JUNE BUCKEYE CLASSIC HAS EXPANDED to over 50 teams this year but due to the recent rating changes, some scheduling problems have surfaced within certain divisions.

Although we now have EIGHT 75 teams; FIFTEEN 70 teams; FOURTEEN 65'S and SIXTEEN 60's, WHICH OF COURSE ARE ALL AA and AAA teams we could use additional teams in the following divisions:

70's: either ONE AA or AAA team.
65's: either ONE AA or AAA team
60's: either ONE AA or AAA team.

The dates are JUNE 15-16 (70's); 17-18 (65's) and 18-19 (60's) in Barberton (Akron) Ohio

The format will be round robin play (SIX GAMES)against only AA or AAA (depending on your classification)in your age group. There are also enough teams in each group that you will play SIX DIFFERENT TEAMS.

There will be one Championship plaque and individual awards for first place and runner-up plaques for second.

In the 75's there will be one winner and one runner-up; in the 70's there will be a AA champ/runner-up and two AAA champs/runner-ups; in the 65's there will be at LEAST a champion and runner-up in both the AA and AAA groups and in the 60's, there will be one AA and two AAA champs and runner-ups.

In divisions were there are two group champs in either the AA or AAA group we are planning on having an additional game between the two winners for a Grand Championship plaque.

Sorry, no individual awards for second place.

We are planning to go two weeks next year and will definitely have a 55 AA/AAA division as well as making the games in the 75's, 70's and 65's three day tournaments.

We hope to make it a Saturday/Sunday affair for the 55's and 60's,if the fields are available for SUNDAY.

The dates we are looking at are: June 13-19 (75, 70 and 60) and June 22-26 (65 and 55). However, right now we are only considering it..nothing has been finalized.

If possible, we would also like to consider bringing in a major's only tournament (70's, 65's and 60's)in one of the weeks.
