I'm want to build a site with a poll or two, but need these from YOU: Short questions with 3-6 answers. example; 1. What color of balls to you prefer, A, white B. Optic yellow 2. what cor\comp ball do you prefer? A 40\375-400 B 44\375 C 47\525 D 52\275 3. That pitch arc limits would work best for all? A 3-12 B 6-12 C 6-14 D pitcher height-16 E. unlimited, up or down 4. Do you like late games? ( Defined as being, AFTER 7 pm) A yes B no ------- Would appreciate as many as I can get from players coaches mgrs etc. All ages rankings which I will also try to add as well anyway. Kind a like the one SPA had, I hope, but was unable to get that info to use as template. If anyone know what SPA used please LMK. Please sent info to my email addy tait_ebay@yahoo.com Would like to get about 50 plus questions and hopefully the site I go through will have the stats on the end w\o cutting off info. Not sure on time frame but when done and up link will be posted. Depends on when I get the questions and sort through them and post. If I get more than expected another poll will be done where the other left off. Suggestions welcome. Thanks. |

If anonymity is your concern, I can understand that, though it would not have been an issue. If that be the case, post the questions\answers here. SSUSA can use them also and perhaps do it them selves. :>? There were many questions in SPA's that would have been used, but not all. I really wanted the players to be the poll setters, not the assn. There are so many that could be asked about the game, issues, rules & equip, it could be very long. |

Optic Yellow-I think I see it better in tough skies 2.44/375 3.pitcher height-unlimited I think you need to make sure there is some arc or it can get a lot like fast pitch, but unlimited arc would help pitchers and cut out 'discussions' about umpires judgement. 4. | Feb. 21, 2010 turn2 489 posts | Bruce, The runs have worked both ways for us. We have been beaten up pretty bad some games and then we have a few good games. This allows a team to run rule the other and most of the time ends early because of the run rule. To me this is softball. You try to score all the runs you can and try to beat the other team. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. But I would also like to say to keep some type of time limit. In 2007 we played some 2 1/2 - 3 hour games back to back and that was not much fun. Maybe the major plus could score all the runs and let the teams that dont want to play the top teams play with all these other wacky rules. Donnie Turn Two |

However, I can see where they would really screw up a tournament schedule. I'm also in favor of playing under lights. Sorry for the hikack Scott. Back to your questions. 1) ball color really doesn't matter much. Some white balls become tan and are hard to see, so I'd go for yellow. 2) 44/375 has proven to be good 3) 3-12 4) I like late games, am fortunate that I can see well. |

A) One B) Two C) Three D) Four or more 3) Should teams be allowed to pick up players outside their geographical area? If so, how many and from where (E/W of the Mississippi River)? |

The ratings, brackets, ages? I "assume" age, since you have that in your first question, but I think we all would want direct or specific questions and not one we may guess on then or later like the way a couple of rules (now gone) were worded. |

So, my question would be: Within each age group, how many different classes should there be? A) one B) two C) three D) four Can you imagine age groups being 50-57, 58-66, etc? Then, each age group having a Recreational and Competitive division? |

Lively bats and balls. 70 foot bases is OK. 300 foot fences. Would you like to see HR's as outs or singles? Would you like to be able to free sub fielders or bat as many as you want? Do you want players polled and voting on all matters? Do want to see an association/org/union of players, by players for players? Should a waiver be recognized and respected regarding player choices regarding danger and liability? Do you want certain states like California and Florida singled out regarding player elligibility? Are cookies better with milk or coffee? Great stuff, guys. |

No HR for outs or increase the HR limits...(everybody is a HR hitter this days with Einstein bat/ball combo); 70 feet bases; Arc is Ok 6-12... |

Yours here, I can figure out, so no problem. Not all questions can be completely answered w\o additional info. They will be added. Would to have these in by the end of March. Each question and the answers has to be entered separately at the site. Time consuming. |

Might be like voting during elections, it you don't it does nothing. Perhaps that is the silent majority we read referred to here... Let's hope not. There are a lot out there with good thoughts, and ideas. It's not that hard to make into a question with multiple choice answers or yes, no. Those: What if, how about, why not type of questions & concerns. It's your game, you are paying to play it. This is one way to voice what you want, and how you feel about it. If I happen to get tons of questions, I'll just have another poll & break it down is segments. |

Why is baseball/softball the only major sport that restricts a player's ability to enter and leave the game ? Is five (5) games a fair number for travel tournaments (qualifiers, championships) ? Actrally the movement would do something, but nothing is going to be perfect. I prefer what ever I throw, from where ever, however or how high works very well. Players assn... there has to be a couple hundred of many sizes but only around 10 that have the ability to deal with large numbers of players & teams. I see questions but then not all really suited for this and no answers as requested... Send me the stuff I'll get it in somewhere. |

THINK ABOUT IT... ! |

I wasn't aware you could do polls there either. Had name; "more balls than bats" started in eteamz. But started working on questions \answers and stopped. I like the FB idea. Not to hard to use. It's keeping the 'seniors' out I'd worry about. I am unable as yet to find a poll\survey site that allows more than 10-20 questions or 100 replies. SPA had over 1500. My goal was to beat that. With only 45+ questions ready but only a dozen involved here, it's not much of a statement as was said by Staff here. Go for it. You build it...I'll send you the list to add or submit it myself. LMK what you want to do on that...Great idea. |

I don't have a question to submit, but my opinion is that there is likely a big difference between how 50s respond and 65+ players (for example, playing under lights is a big problem for older players); also, a difference between AA/AAA and Major/Major+ (might be difference of opinion on home runs, 5-run innings, etc.). Is your envisioned poll going to account for possibly different perspectives? Keep up the effort. Would be a first of its kind. |

However there are some that play multiple ones...I do, and know others do as well. I added many questions to try & "deal" with it but it's really impossible given one cannot check who is what they say or answer to. Some submitted i feel are relevent to travel ball, but are also within league or recreational ball. I hope to avoid league and rec replies. But included the question submitted. The post regarding Facebook is really good, But what I don't like about the site is that it has the spidering effect "you may want to connect to this person or that one as a social friend" type thing". good to some degree but not just senior players would get in there. Am hoping for only Seniors and the 'master' players for the polls. Ask a question(s) with answers you have a concern(s) about...I'll add them. It's going to be a long one regardless unless the basics are done, age, ball, pitch, bases, fields type stuff and then the hard core matters. But given I have done polls from all over for 3 companies and have left out questions wanting to come back later to answer them... They are not always there or available to do. And some do require some thought. |

I agree that some players are in more than one level (I played across three age groups last season), so perhaps the simple response would be to have the player answer for his oldest age group (not many players are in two levels, much less three). Of my oldest team last year, only two other players played younger, so I think I could accurately give my perspective as an older player and it would represent my peers on that team. |
| Feb. 23, 2010 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Omar, Here they will not "look" at one persons cast reply as that for 12 or so, It would be great is one could get all 300 plus managers to cast a meaningful vote for their team, but it won't happen. That too, with some within a team might just happen to disagree on some aspects of the proposed vote. Like anything, its not cut and dry. One person sent me a site to talk about tonight. I'll be calling him on it. That and the Facebook site as mentioned or the one I only have a name to so far, but nothing done. If it gets broken into bits and pieces by subject matter as it were that might help too, but some interrelate to others as well. Yea, complex. Care to do it for me? |

Add 3 HR's per age group is my though on this. 2. The umpires take far too much crap off certain players, they should not hesitate to toss anybody even though they are elite players. Agree, "yes" or "no" 3. Pitcher arc limit: 6' to 14' 4. Bats alloweded: I would go for no composite bats if the fields went back to 275' with good balls. Thank You: James |

I could do all three. But isn't that overkill. You'd likely get different replies to the same questions. Most of the free sites are VERY LIMITED, as I posted here. something will work somehow. It's for the senior softball players voice on the game that they are concerned about, not any particular assn., but they might take heed to what they feel. I believe SPA does and SSUSA did for the 1 question, mgr only 'poll' they used, & did it wisely, imo. |

| Feb. 24, 2010 Omar Khayyam 1357 posts | There are short fields (below 280) in several places, always an older field (built pre-double wall), usually in a park, no room to expand, but always needing to be used in popular tournaments. In the last year, I have played on a 265, 260 (actually 250), 285, 280, that I can remember. Usually the older teams are assigned there, but with the Mikens, some of the oldsters can hit them out! |

(10-20 questions) this site I figure will be about the same but they use a 3rd party for them and I haven't looked at it other than their home page link. Good sites are 20 a month average, w\some features being less costly, some even more. All I can do is see where it leads. I sent out 3-500 emails to players i have been in contact with over the last 13 years for one softball thing or another. 35 were returned so far and that is not too bad given the numbers. But for anything to work it takes participation, few here really did that, I am surprised. But it is what it is and only the members can vote in it when up, that's another story. Your concerns, ideas, suggestions, is a part of it, pics forum and a blog down the line for messaging selling and all hopefully will be a part as well, Site already sent me a email that they stopped my email because it overloaded the "free" space. I actually liked that. Shows interest is there. |

| Feb. 26, 2010 garyheifner 649 posts | My poll results Go to 1-1 count, speeds up the game. Once again, we played in the TOC this year and had some 5 and 6 inning games. I want to play "7". Arc--6-10 feet. No ump on this planet knows what a 12 foot arc is. An ump can better judge 3-4 feet over a pitchers head. For those who don't know, unlimited arc really sucks. |
