New pitching mask/helmet
Wondering about your opinion on the new Worth mask/helmet, the only pitching protection so far specifically approved by SSUSA as meeting their standards. A pitching friend of mine brought it to the field and the pitchers gathered round. Here are our initial observations:

Positive:
More protection than evident from the website picture.
Heavy chin protection which most masks lack.
Clever adjustment strap for under the chin.
Ventilated on top and sides for cooler wearing.
Not that expensive for a quality mask.
Good visibility on line drives headed toward the face (similar to Rip-It and Game Face)

Negative:
Heavier than thought it would be. Makes one feel top-heavy.
Hard to put on and take off over glasses.
Chin strap can be irritating.
Limited visibility on ground balls due to double vertical bar below nose.
Ventilated areas can cause sunburn on bald heads.
Gonna be hot on a warm day.

Who else has experienced this model?

The best one out there is the new "FACE OFF" and you can see it on the Combat web site. www.combatsportsgroup.com
I have seen the tests and also the other helmets by Halo - Bangerz, Worth, etc.
The "FACE OFF" is also the most expensive but it is your call on paying an extra $40 or possibly more in medical bills. This is a heavy duty mask and both of our pitchers on our team will be wearing it. Check it out.

omar are you sure you can post this being that your a non-entity,LOL.i used mine a couple of weekends back playing with the kids,i felt it was ok in all aspects.i had a couple of knee line drives and seemed to see them pretty good.also for the sunburn prol, get some of those skull caps that the footballers wear under their helmets,i have some and they work real nice.
scrappy,ss-usa requires a helmet if your weaaring protection gear, and just a face mask.

Thanks Scott, after 5 surgeries since September I get to go to the gym tomorrow and walk the track and walk on the treadmill. Doesn't sound like much but after 5 months I am looking forward to it. I can start swinging a bat on March 6th. You don't know how much you miss it until it is taken away from you. I will probably start playing in Mesquite (end of March). Look forward to seeing you down the line somewhere.

I tried to order a Worth helmet from online sports.com. (Salsakid's bud never called back)
Their price $114. but they had a price match guarantee if I sent other company links showing prices and the same helmet.
I sent 3 links; 2@$49.00 and 1@$54.00. They did not return 3 calls as promised. A rep I spoke with said none of my prices counted due to various silly reasons; "can't prove it's the same helmet", "MSRP is the price we pay, not you (the customer)" etc
So, I'm awaiting the arrival of my helmet from Anaconda Sports @ $49.00. Online sports is off my list for anything !

Does anyone know where you can purchase the "faceOff"?? Very informative website but no indication of where to purchase.

Thanks,
