Team Ratings
I would like to know if SSUSA sent out a standard letter to teams that were adjusted? My team was moved up without an explanation! Is this standard practice for this organization? I received a letter talking about a team that doesn't pertain to my team, so I called and ask for a letter that pertained to my team and was told that they would send another letter out to me. I received the new letter today and it was the same letter that I received at first!

I received a letter from SSUSA about our team's rating change. The letter explained in some detail about their rating system and how it works. In our case, over 17 games we had a run advantage of 5.23 over our opponents, that is a .23 run advantage over one of their benchmark which is used to determine if a change in ratings is warranted (run advantage of 5 runs over your opponents). I would recommend that SSUSA make their team rating change at end of the year and the teams affected by change be notified.

They do it 4 time a year. March, June, August and November. Lots of games in between could be big differences along the way in scores between these dates.
I think it's good as it is. Nov starts the new year any way with the Winter Worlds. But on that re wright of rating could make a big difference in the when were they done before or after the WW's.

I would just like an explanation about my team and not what some other team has done! I don't think it should be that hard! Evidently there is a reason why we were moved up, so why not send the right letter with the adjustment!

I was moved up in SSUSA because .I won 65 aaa in SPA. Went to Phoenix went 1 win and 6 losses. The losses were lopsided in65 aaa. The SPA nationals had no west coast teams. We did play better than we ever had. SSUSA is supposed to be a business. This what they accomplished .They lost my money all the hotel money . Tell me that is good business.

Rating teams is a tough job, only being able to score 5 runs an inning until it's open keeps most games close. Ratings would be made much easier if they reduced the divisions from four to three. There are always going to be teams "on the fence" one way or another, but this would reduce the number.

Gary, I understand that. Might want to write and or email Terry. Suggest written form with sig required.
also any stats you have for your playing and even scores might back you up.
They will have them so it's advisable you do as well.
As for the business, one or two won't make a big difference, over all, but more, especially if in same age\ratings would.
Some events are hurting badly at time when only a few are there to play in bracket. But that hurts everyone.

Jawood, Had you became a member & taken the poll on the site I built for you guys, that was one question. Of the 24 that took it, 5 wanted TWO divisions, 12 wanted THREE and 7 wanted 4 as it is.
If there were say 24 for each age and or level that took it, that would have been very noteworthy.
And your right about the grey area fence hangers.

Taits, I tried as soon as you created that site, but I couldn't get on it. I was for two divisions when I first started in Seniors but now believe three is best. I think the AA's need their own division.

There's always somebody complaining about their rating and starting a new thread. You win a big tournament, you get moved up.

No, winning one will not get you moved up unless it's a world tournament. Anyone can win some of these little 4-5 team events. Winning a few in a row might get you bumped.

So many players on this board complain that Vegas shouldn't be any big deal tournament, so then, if you win Vegas only, why should you get moved up ?
Just asking !

It's probably because they play with different rules in Vegas like 7 runs an inning and no DBO's (in the Major-plus & Major) which alter the run-differential that SSUSA uses to rate the teams. There is a greater chance of wider winning margins when teams can score more runs throughout the game.
