Played at Rock N Reno for the first time in the 55 AAA - great field - saw R&R a few times, and played against them, that first baseman and second baseman just dominated in the field stopping everything on the right side and they both crushed the ball - had to leave before the finals not sure they won but they were killing everyone I saw - had a bunch of bombers on that team - also the team from Albequerque was huge, we did not fit in AAA if these guys are the norm

sballoldguy, sounds like a team that either played out of its head or will be moved up to Major soon!

sballoldguy, which team were you on? I was #25-(left handed batter-left fielder) on the Albuqerque Desperadoes. Most (12 guys) of our team moved to 55AAA up from the 50AAA Desperados from last year. We were unable to find enough 55 plus players in Albuq. so we added 6 from the Sportsline Bulls 55AAA from the Las Cruces/El Paso area. We have 5 guys over 60. This was our first test. In winning, we won our first rings. Several guys were very emotional about it. I thought the teams were pretty evenly matched. I watched parts of a lot of games and did not see any teams that appeared out of their league. We won four of our six wins in the last at bat, three of them by one run.
sballoldguy, we took our lickings by a lot when we first played AAA. We lost some games by 28-4, 27-6, scores like that. Never thought we could compete-wanted to go back to AA. We learned what we needed to do and practiced a lot. We have always been about family first, then softball.I am not sure if we are good, or just played out of our heads this weekend. It sure went well beyond our expectations.
I guess what I am trying to say is this was one tourney. Give it a few before you get down.

Hey Webbie, I play for R& R (first base #17)you guys were awesome this weekend. Even though we had to play you four times you were clearly the best team this weekend and deserved to win it. I was very impressed. Classy group of players and fans, well deserved. Hope for a rematch with you in Phoenix, but I think I am going to give #75 your first baseman a one way ticket to Hawaii during the worlds. :)

Hey, Huff. Thanks a bunch. Big John sure came through, didn't he? Wow. We sure enjoyed it and everybody was very impressed with the left side of your infield, especially. We would love to see you guys again. I'm going to send both you and the second baseman to Hawaii with Big John so I can sneak one through occasionally. :-)

I guess I'm reading that the Desperadoes beat R&R in the finals? I play for ODB (3B against Desperados, EH against R&R), both you guys beat us, and played well to do so, but being a good AAA team doesn't necessarily make you a major team. Congratulations to both of your teams -- I thought it was a really good tournament, good comp all around.

Hi Frampton. Webbie-Left field-Left handed batter-#25 Desperados. When you play 9 games it tends to blur in an old mind.:-) R&R beat us 24-23 in the championship, but ran out of gas in the IF and we beat them 22-10. They had a great run. Thanks for the kind words-If i have my games straight, didn't we run off 14 runs in the open inning on you to win? It was a good game, too. We didn't have any easy games. Hope we see you again.

Ouch, yeah, that was us, thought we had it going into the 7th with a four-run lead, but your bats definitely livened up that inning. So you guys went through the winners bracket? Look forward to seeing the actual results and putting things back together. Guess we can't complain too much about our losses in the DE portion being to the 1st and 2nd place teams . . .

I played for the above mentioned Last Call 60 team and the Reno Express 55's we had a great tourny in the 60's and a pretty good 55 showing considering 8 of us played on both teams, got beat by the Desperados in the winners bracket and then R&R took care of us in the losers bracket, 3rd place not so bad with all the good competition that was there. Seemed like a great bunch of guy's on all the teams we played. Congrates to the Desperado's they were on a roll.

We played the Desperadoes and they kicked our butts. We came back the next morning and score 38 runs, played the next game and RR kicked our butts. We were very pleased with 4th. It appears any team could beat any team and they did. Except I think Deperadoes and RR were a step above. Great bunch of guys on every team we played against.

Stayed at the Sands one night only, running toilet all night , Air did not work and a M/C gang showed up. I think SSUSA should move their Tournament headquarter to a different, cleaner Hotel

I agree losing to the teams that finished 1st & 2nd, isn't a bad effort
Webbie25, huff17 great tourney. Both of your teams are a great grp. I played with Frampton, I was in LTC. Playing this past weekend in Reno was very enjoyable. Fran Dave and Terry did a very good job. Golden Eagle is a great complex. Playing with new teammates and making new contacts was also great. The R&R coach and I had a nice talk between games. Not knowing we'd be playing each other a couple of hours later. These are the things that make the game great. Last year I played with a team that won rings it was fun. Even though didn't win a ring this year it was just as fun. We just played while having a good time. From what I saw the 55AAA was fairly balanced. The teams hitting and playing defense advanced further.
Everyone have a good season hope to see you down the rode.

Would like to see all the game by game results than just the top 3 finishers in each division.

The detail score reporting for Reno will be a while ... When we were in Reno, the tournament administration package arrived from the Atlantic Coast Championships in Loudoun County, VA ... That's first on the score reporting priority list, and Reno is second ... But those priorities were behind getting Dallas underway this morning (Thursday) and doing all of the scheduling and related administration for the Northwest Championships in Portland ...We'll be leaving for Portland a week from Sunday, so it's going to be a tight fit ... I'd look for Reno results sometime around the very last part of the month, since I know my schedule and I'm the only one who does them ...

Dave, since its staying light a lot longer now there should be plenty of time to work on posting those Reno scores. Have Fran drive, you can knock them out in no time.
Pretty soon there will be a 25 hour day
available, that should also help.

You know I'm only trying to help. =)

Hey Webbie, sorry been out of town - I was not really down - I played for the team from Washington, congratulations on winning. I was just saying R&R was so tough - obviously you guys were very good. I saw R&R play like 3 times and I was just noting that the first and second basemen had home runs in every game, and nobody got anything by them, seemed like they did not fit in AAA, but since you guys beat them and had been in AA maybe there are just a lot of equal ability teams, I doubt you guys played over your heads you guys were great, and I have to say both teams (well all of them really) had great guys - looking back now a week later - had a lot of fun

Hi sballoldguy, R&R was one of the toughest teams we have played, along with CJ Express and Los Vatos Viejos, both which are in majors now. The 8-7 game we played with them was a 'head-scratcher'. Not indicative of the offense of either team, but had to be fun to watch from a defensive angle. I don't remember any errors. You have to play a team more than once to really get a handle on how good they are, so I am not saying the other teams weren't tough. They were. I look forward to seeing any of the teams that were there again, to play a competitive game and have a beer afterward.
